With over 40 years of experience taking care of women and having delivered well over 10,000 babies, Dr. Tate’s office has long been the practice of choice for those looking for top-notch patient centered care.
Dr. Tate has become well-known as an expert in women's health and the go-to doctor for VBAC, breech and multiples deliveries. Yale School of Medicine trained, Dr. Tate’s passion for providing personalized medical care for women from all over Georgia has been the driving force of Dekalb-Gwinnett OBGYN since it opened in 1985.

We love Dr. Tate and his staff. Everyone is very kind and welcoming. They never give us a hard time when we have to bring our littles with us to appointments. Dr. Tate really spends time getting to know his patients and you can tell he really cares about you and what you want.

I have been coming to Dr. Joseph Tates office for just over 8 years now. I've used him with all of my babies and he has been wonderful, including their staff! Even through a loss he was very compassionate and reassuring. He does the best at delivering babies and knowing what both baby and mama need!

I can’t rave about this OB enough. I had a hard time getting in with an OB physician last minute and was dealing with some unpleasant pregnancy symptoms. I knew I had a positive urine pregnancy test but no idea how far along I was. Dr. Tate took adequate time to diagnose me and talk to me. It turned out I had an ectopic pregnancy and needed emergency services. He started cold calling all the physicians he knew would take my insurance. Genuinely one of the sweetest and kindest human beings I’ve met. Not only that, but he checked in with me while at the hospital to see if I was okay/what their plans were. If you want a doctor that cares especially about your child go to him. Praying my next pregnancy is viable I will definitely have Dr. Tate as my OB.

I have been seeing Dr Tate for the last 12.5 years. He has delivered all 4 of my children. I cannot speak highly enough of his knowledge, his skill set, his attention and care for his patients or his character. He is the best OB/GYN that anyone could ever encounter - absolutely no other physician is going to devote the time and attention to you and your baby that this man will. If you have the opportunity to be his patient, count yourself incredibly blessed!!

Dr Tate is one in a billion and just the best. He has delivered two out of three of our boys and we can’t say enough good things about him as a professional and a person. He cares and his knowledge and skill are not found in doctors these days. So beyond thankful.

Dr Tate was delivering babies at the time of my appointment but the Nurse practitioner I wish I remembered her name but she took care of me and I left very satisfied everyone was so nice and the front desk office always answered the phone whenever I called prior to my appointment 10/10 experience!!!

Sooo first of all, the doctor was aggressive and his energy was off. I raised concerns about how many African-American patience he had in the past and if he was aware that we do experience more complications during childbirth compared to other races. I asked a bunch of other questions too but that’s the one he decided to bring to the receptionist like I wasn’t going to say the same thing twice. His response was unprofessional and he took it real personal. As a doctor, I expected more empathy from him all I got was arrogance. He was talking over me whenever I asked a question and the whole physical exam was uncomfortable. I barely saw the baby during the ultrasound and he recommended me to Emory hospital for a “deeper” ultra sound. Overall, the experience was weird. This is my first real pregnancy so I wanted to make sure everything was good and that I chose the right doctor. Been thinking about this all day, it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Dr. Tate, Megan, and the entire practice are absolutely wonderful providers and staff. We just had our first child under the care of Dr. Tate and wouldn't have wanted to be with any other doctor! Dr. Tate is incredibly intelligent, funny, and will try to get a vaginal birth whenever possible (is apparently great with VBACs too, but I cannot speak to this personally). My daughter had the cord wrapped around her neck, arm, and leg and I never felt nervous or scared because Dr. Tate knew exactly what to do! HIs presence was both calming and encouraging. We are so thankful that we found him and his practice and feel blessed to have such a great first experience with him as our doctor. We're looking forward to the next one!

Dr. Tate is an amazing person and doctor. He's extremely knowledgeable and has been doing this for over 30 years. My mother was one of his first patients and delivered my brother 34 years ago. He delivered my son in 2012 and I won't go to anyone but him. His office staff is friendly and welcoming!!

I have been seeing Dr. Tate and his staff for 11 years now and he has birthed all 4 of my beautiful children. Him and his staff have been nothing short of amazing! Dr. Tate is a true professional who is passionate about what he does and is as knowledgeable and caring as they come! Every visit, Dr. Tate takes his time to listen and and provide insight with never rushing. I trust him and everyone at the office so much. They have made me feel like family and I couldn’t thank them enough.

I absolutely love Dr. Tate. He delivered both of my children, my brother and my cousin. He actually listens to any and all concerns. If I was ever worried about anything he would have me come in right away to get checked out. After my kids were born his post op care was amazing. He checked on me personally almost every day that I was in the hospital. I would recommend him to everyone!

I moved from Massachusetts in 2021, I found Dr Tate through google. I had a successful Vbac without medication 7 months ago. He is a great and knowable Dr. I would recommend him and I hope he does not retire very soon ????

I mean, there are hardly enough words for all that Dr. Tate has meant to me personally, as a woman, as a woman giving birth…and then what he’s meant to my entire family. I’ve learned so much from him and his own family. I’m extremely grateful for his professionalism, kindness, quirks, science, empathy, and great grace. He’s like none other.
Is the wait time lengthy at times? Yes, you’re seeing someone who is going to do everything they can to NOT damage your body. Does that disturb some? It shouldn’t. Or…do you value your body? Will you give it some time?
Equally great to Dr. Tate—truly—is his fantastic staff, all great, great, GREAT women! Each of them proving once again that behind every great man is a great woman (or a team of them, in this case).
Thank you, Dr. Tate, for empowering me and leaving me with my own—undamaged—body through multiple pregnancies and deliveries!

Dr. Tate is amazing! He is very Passionate about his profession. I was a High pregnancy and did a lot of research to find the right provider. Dr tate was extremely knowledgeable about my health conditions and educated me thoroughly throughout my Pregnancy. I wish more doctors cared about their patients the way Dr tate cares about his.

I love everything about Dr Tate and the office staff, you don't feel like you're in a regular doctor's office because they treat you like family. It's never packed and you never wait really long. I highly recommend them! And if you are looking for a doctor to give you an opportunity to do a vaginal delivery after you've had a cesarean section (VBAC), Dr Tate is definitely the man to see for that!
I had 2 (VBA2C'S), I would have never had an opportunity anywhere else. Thank you Dr.Tate and everyone else at the office for everything! ????????

Dr. Tate is well known in the area for his vbac patients. I had a traumatic csection with my first born and knew I wanted to work with Tate from the moment I found I was pregnant with baby #2. With his help I got my unmedicated vbac and was able to heal from the trauma of my first birth. He even advocated for me to be able to have my doula present when we were in triage bc there were no available L&D rooms available when we delivered at the height of covid. I recommend Dr Tate all the time in Facebook groups and to my friends as well. I am so grateful to Dr. Tate and his staff for the care they gave me. I felt like a patient whose voice mattered. And not a number like I feel at most practices. I will keep dr. Tate as my regular gyn now. He’s by far the best and most thorough doctor I’ve ever had in my life.

OB/GYNECOLOGY, he is definitely the best! He is taking the time to explain everything he do.
If you want to know for sure you are on very good hands - he is the one.

I have used this practice since 2014, and Dr. Tate has delivered all of my children, with the fourth being due this month, February 2023. I highly recommend his OB/GYN practice, and I would not choose to see anyone else.
