When you meet with Karen, you’ll feel welcomed, safe, and validated by a therapist who is genuinely engaged in your therapeutic relationship. Karen understands that deciding to come to therapy can often be difficult, so she offers unconditional positive regard and empathy. You’ll be considered the expert of your own life and guided with care and intention as you move toward accomplishing your goals.
Karen’s clients learn to handle many life struggles, such as depression, anxiety, and challenging relationships. She considers each client’s individual characteristics, preferences, needs, physical abilities, and spiritual beliefs when choosing relationally focused, integrative approaches for therapy. Active listening, effective communication skills, cognitive restructuring and reframing are all options, along with motivational interviewing, exploration of relationship patterns, psychoeducation, interpersonal resolutions, rapport building, problem solving, and humor. She draws from modalities like CBT, DBT, person-centered, psychosocial approach, psychodynamic, play therapy, and grief counseling.
With a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California, Karen has been a clinical therapist for many years, working in a variety of settings. Helping and caring for others as they navigate the joys and challenges of life has always been her passion. She believes it is her life’s purpose to support individuals as they learn, live, and grow into the best version of themselves.
