Dr. Kavita Tahilani, PhD

Psychologist
OH
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with years of experience providing evidence-based therapy to a diverse array of clients dealing with a variety of mental health and behavioral challenges. My training has been focused in the areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches. I completed my doctoral training at St. John’s University and completed my internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Mt. Sinai/St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York. I view therapy as a collaborative process and will work with you to identify appropriate goals and customize the treatment plan to fit your needs and meet you where you are. I am able to flexibly implement evidence-based treatments so that we can effect real, measurable change in your life based on therapeutic approaches that have known efficacy in the community. One of the most critical pieces of therapy is a strong therapeutic alliance so it is important to me to hear from you about your experience in therapy, what your strengths are and what makes your life worth living. I am mindful that I am providing trauma-informed care and practice cultural humility with my clients. Additionally, therapy is most effective when it is consistent. To help facilitate attendance to sessions and reduce barriers to care, I offer teletherapy (therapy through video calls) so you can attend sessions wherever you have a private space and internet, reducing need for commutes and allowing for more flexible scheduling. Teletherapy covers all the same content as in-person sessions, and research supports that it works as well as in-person therapy. I look forward to beginning our work together.
