About Dr. Ken Kirkland
Dr. Kirkland graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1981. In 1985, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He is also licensed in Therapeutic Optometry and certified in glaucoma and oral medicine. While working at a LASIK surgery center, he performed over 25,000 pre- and post-op exams. Dr. Kirkland opened Legacy Vision in 2003 and has built a large and loyal patient base that continues to grow each year. He has been practicing in the Plano area since 1995. He is committed to giving his patients the best care using the most current state-of-the-art technology available. He is a member of the TOA, AOA, and Plano Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Kirkland enjoys spending time with his wife Nancy, a Nurse Practitioner, and his stepson Brent. He also enjoys traveling, golf, and getting together with friends.

I was examined by Dr. Zehra Chawla. I couldn’t have chosen a better doctor had I tried. She was outstanding as a listener and as a communicator. Tammy, the office assistant, had a great personality and was also outstanding in the performance of her duties of the usual preliminaries before the appointment. It was a very pleasant visit as a new patient, and I look forward to returning there. I highly recommend this practice.

The staff called to confirm appt a couple of times and were friendly. Provider was attentive and took some time to explain my eye condition. The staff were all friendly and thorough. The had a great selection of frames , as well.

Everything was great. The doctor and assistants were kind and everything was prompt. The only thing I didn't like was the tablets they have you use as a first time patient. Most of the options didn't work and I had to skip it, and just tell one of the Dr's assistants the information, kind of defeating the purpose of the tablet a little bit.
Also, the glasses they had were affordable and stylistically wide-ranging.

The staff and the doctor were very nice and knowledgable. I appreciated that despite having a very slight correction, the doctor didn’t encourage me to get glasses because it wouldn’t make a significant difference for me. Everyone was personable and I was in and out quickly.
