“The appointment was on schedule, and never felt rushed. The doctor spent quality time reviewing my eye conditions and provided me a sheet on general care to incorporate daily. Overall, I left concerned that the floaters would most likely not go away, and would have liked more information on the risks of floaters and what changes would present concerns and an assessment.
It would have been helpful to know ahead of time I was having my eyes dilated as I was a good distance away and I couldn't see clearly to drive safely. I would definitely have had someone drive me had I known. My vision did not come back for five hours when it was stated it would take three hours, and sunglasses did not help. I ended up having to stay in the area as it was not safe for me to drive. Maybe a quick vision test could be done to confirm it was safe to drive. I also don't have prescription sunglasses, so I have to stack sunglasses over my glasses which didn't help with the vision clarity.”

About Dr. Kevin Kaufman
Dr. Kevin J. Kaufman graduated from Harvard College Magna Cum Laude, after his formative years in Ohio. A Rotary Scholarship took him to Université de Paris for one year “License” physiology studies; his French research involved patients with vision defects. Medical school at University of Pennsylvania yielded MD and PhD degrees from the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist research program. This research track involved physiology study of eye-to-brain neural connections in animals. He then did post-doctoral research in Universita Degli Studia in Parma, Italy, further investigating vision pathways.
His Ophthalmology Residency was at the Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. At Harvard, he then won and undertook a Heed Fellowship in glaucoma. This disease is the most common to interfere with eye-to-brain connections. The following year a Heed-Knapp fellowship permitted further glaucoma study in Harvard Medical School and at Charles University in Prague. While in Prague, he was a National Academy of Sciences Grantee, a Fulbright Professor, and a Grantee of the American Philosophical Society. His overseas experience allows him near fluency in French, Italian, and Czech.
Dr. Kaufman’s practice is a balance of glaucoma and comprehensive ophthalmology. He specializes in diseases and surgery with an emphasis on small incision cataract and glaucoma surgeries. He offers comprehensive glaucoma care with all levels of medical and surgical management, including Filtering operations, Tube shunt devices, and endo-ciliary treatments. Dr. Kaufman accepts new patients above age 12.
Dr. Kaufman was a named Surgeon at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary for service there, and he is a Clinical Instructor at the Harvard Medical School. He also is a consulting Ophthalmologist for the Massachusetts General Hospital.
