Verified Patient Reviews
The doctor was kind, did a thorough exam. Most especially she listened and patiently to my concerns and gave concise answers and advice.
I waited for around 50 minutes to be seen by the doctor. I was told by the nurse that there was a backup of patients. I spoke with another patient in the waiting room whose appointment was 15 minutes ahead of mine. The doctor was overbooked but it's unclear if it was because of the previous day's snow storm or if it's a regular occurrence. The doctor spoke a mile a minute when she went through my medical history and rushed through my check up, finishing in 5-10 minutes. Aside from asking the obligatory questions, she did not do much to make me feel comfortable before the exam. I will not return.
She was very thorough. I like how personal she is. considering you are getting an exam in that area she was very kind and informative!
Dr. Chu is great! She makes you feel so comfortable and is so knowledgable.
Dr chu is a great doctor
Best OB-GYN I've visited in NYC.
Was not good. I've never had such a rough pelvic exam in my life! And the worst thing is that I told her I was having some pain, yet she still showed no regard for my comfort. She also did not address some of my major reasons for coming to see her. Would not recommend at all.
I like her on my previous visits but my last visit she seems distracted and on the rush. I even had to ask her about a prescription while she's on her way out.
I usually hate going to the GYN. This visit was quick painless and she made me laugh so my anxiety disappeared quickly. The staff were very friendly as well.
except for the wait, I was satisfied.
Waited an hour for my app and everyone around me was also waiting for ridiculous times. The doctor is good, and I've been coming for my annual exam for about three years now but it's just terrible that the wait times are so bad every time.
Dr. Chu was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend her.
It took close to an hour to even be taken into a room. Once taken into the room, I waited for about another half hour, at this point I had been waiting for about an hour and a half. Dr. Chu was very pleasant and I appreciated that. However, I had a few more questions when a nurse practitioner came in and interrupted my appointment because of a need of another patient. I had just waited an hour and a half to be seen and still wasn't getting proper attention!! She asked if I wanted additional tests as she was walking out the door, I didn't want to say yes and then have them be rushed! That was unacceptable. I might still be returning to Dr. Chu, but the overall experience was not ideal.
Dr. Chu has great bedside manner and makes the right amount of small talk to make me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed during my appointments. I've been going to Dr. Chu for my annual appointment for 3 years and would definitely recommend her!
The office visit was less than 15 min, she seemed she was rushing somewhere, she just asked the general questions and dodnt take the time to explain me much about the exam. She just said she will mail me the results.
She's great. Incredibly helpful, professional, and easy to talk to.
I recently saw Dr. Chu and she was fantastic. Very quick - in and out - and made you feel so comfortable. As one that is slightly (okay fully) terrified of going to the gynecologist, she made the experience completely bearable and I am definitely seeing her again next time. Highly recommended!
My appointment with Kristine was great from start to finish. The staff at the office was pleasant, the nurse who took my vitals was super friendly and nice, and Kristine herself has a great bedside manner. Kristine explained everything that she was doing clearly, which is super important to me when at the gyno, since it's generally uncomfortable. She also clearly explained what she thought was going on and what other conditions that I was worried about would have been like, to alleviate any fears. She also explained things in a way that I could understand but not that were belittling as a patient. Definitely will be using her as my OB-GYN from now on!
Dr. Chu is a kind and caring physician. She answered all my questions. I would recommend her to family, friends and colleagues.
The wait time today was abnormal compared to my visits in the past. Generally, I don't wait more than 15 minutes. Today it was closer to 35. I find Dr. Chu to be extremely personable, easy to talk to and never feel like she is pushing a specific treatment or prescription. She worries about what is best for you. I highly recommend her!
She is a great doctor! Very attentive and warm. Does not rush through her patients.
She is very detailed with all questions making you feel 100% confident that she is amazing at her job. Although there is wait you know she will take all the time you need once you see her.
Dr rush into the exam and barely make an effort to do a fully exam unlike other gyno. Doesn't really have time to check and listen to your concerns. appointment is useless. Waited almost two hours. Policy said they won't take patient who is 15mins late but eventually they do and it messed up my appointment time. More like a first come first serve schedule. Front desk doesn't seem to care.
Pleasant disposition, offered several solutions to my problems and I'd recommend this Dr to friends.
Love the staff. Had to wait but truly that means Kristine is taking her time with everyone. It was my first time ever going and I felt right at home!
Friendly manner and very thorough.
I appreciate the doctor's thorough and caring way of treating her patient. That's why I am one for 3 years!
I've been going to Dr. Chu for several years, she's efficient and answers any questions/concerns diligently, my only problem is the wait time can be a little excessive, book your appointment as early as possible.
STARTED OFF NICE TURNED NOT SO NICE: My first visit to Dr.Chu was really wonderful - she was very kind and understanding. I did wait forever to see her, but her bedside manner made up for it. My second visit to Dr.Chu was okay, I waited about 40min and then when she saw me she was also training a nurse, so she wasn't as present. I shrugged it off because she was training and the last time she was so great. My last visit left me feeling really upset, uncomfortable and unsatisfactory. She hadn't communicated with the nurse about why I came in for my visit and went straight to business as a regular check up - not asking me how I was doing or why I was there... she just wanted to be in and out. As she is quickly wrapping up - I get the chance to speak up and she responds stunned with annoyance "Well when were you going to tell me?" and proceeded to be condescending as I spoke to her about the issues I had been having recently. The type of health issues you speak with an OBGYN are a little uncomfortable to begin with and should not be handled with a condescending RUDE attitude. She made me feel GUILTY for saying anything or even trying to show her what I was addressing. She was really trying to get out of there as soon as possible and was rushing me! I just couldn't even handle the level of discomfort that was creating. She said she would return with information about today's visit as she rushed out. So I'm waiting..waiting.. a nurse comes in and asks me if I'm waiting on something. I walk out of the room since apparently I wasn't supposed to be there and I can clearly see the nurse talking to disgruntled Dr.Chu in an office nearby. I could excuse it by saying maybe she was having a bad day, we all have bad days - but before she came in to the room, she was talking to the nurses outside about traveling. Disappointed about this last visit. I really held her in good light but it looks like I will be looking for a new OBGYN that isn't condescending.
The staff was pleasant, Dr. Chu has excellent bedside manner, very interested in my issues and concerns, went above and beyond.
I was impressed with my office visit with Dr. Chu as I found her to be professional and caring. I recommend her highly.
The office staff mostly seemed relaxed and friendly, with the exception of one receptionist. Dr. Chu initially seemed a little rushed and brusque, but then when we started to talk about my diagnosis she slowed down and paid attention to my questions and I didn't feel rushed anymore. And unlike someone else's review here, she wasn't unpleasant to me about how long I had gone without GYN care.
My visit was a good one. I did not feel rushed, the exam and questions were thorough. I did not feel rushed.
Dr. Chu and her staff are awesome
She was very professional and knowledgeable.
First of all; they apparently overbooked patients and i waited for 2 hrs. None of the staff saw it necessary to explain to me why i had to wait and they couldn't tell me how long they anticipated the wait. I guess they didn't want to take responsibility for overbooking. I felt rushed, even when i was asking the questions and trying to explain the changes i was noticing she dismissed me.
She was great
Good doctor but wait time was too long even with an appointment.
Front desk staff, medical assistant and Dr. Chu were very nice and professional.
I always get
Bedside manner is a little abrupt but she is very knowledgeable and answers all questions.
Dr. Chu is very personable. Very informative. I would highly recommend her.
Dr. Chu was professional and efficient as usual. Her bedside manner puts you at ease and made for a comfortable visit.
The waiting time is too long. Hope it can be shortened. But staff are very friendly.
I really liked Doctor Chu. There were definitely a few issues with the people that work there. I heard a whole lecture from one of the women in the office to the other employees about being nicer to patients etc.i didn't think it was appropriate to have this 10 min conversation in front of patients. It should have been done in a meeting in a back room. I could tell Doctor Chu was frustrated when she asked for my pharmacy and her nurse did not previously ask what pharmacy I used. The nurse who escorted me into the room was nice, but she needs to learn to knock. Doctor Chu told her to come in after I was dressed and get my pharmacy information. I was only half dressed when she walked right in without knocking. And she proceeded to ask me my information. Other than that, I thought Doctor Chu was pretty good.
Kristine Chu is hands down the worst physician I have ever met. From the moment you walk into her office and have to deal with her rude staff, you immediately feel uncomfortable to even be there. As a doctor, she was extremely unknowledgeable. I have been here multiple times over the years and have finally learned my lesson. Every single time her computer system has somehow been broken and she is running in and out of the room. I wait a couple of hours each time I have an appointment here and only actually see her for a couple of minutes. If you must make an appointment here make sure to take the full day off from work since the wait time is truly unheard of.
Dr. Chu was incredibly RUDE and unprofessional. She greeted me and asked me where I had moved from and when my last gyno appointment was, and when I told her that I was from philadelphia she asked me if there were doctors in philadelphia. I replied "yes, of course there are doctors, my gyno was an MD and why wouldn't they have doctors there?". An incredibly dumb question, and very rude and uneducated from someone in the medical profession. How could she think there are ZERO doctors in philadelphia. She then asked me what my parents did and I told her that my father is also a doctor and she asked me if he made any money since NP's basically do all the primary care in Philly, which isn't true and yes my father makes a living. Very rude comment. THEN once it was time to do the pap smear I had to take off my underwear because I had forgotten to take it off, and she RUDELY remarked "haven't you ever been to a gyno before? why didn't you take those off already?" I was SHOCKED and appalled at her rudeness and her unprofessional behavior and although this was my first visit to her office it will most certainly be my last. DO NOT GO TO HER.
Very professional and friendly. She made me feel comfortable and informed me of things I did not know. I would highly recommend her to my friends and family.
She was amazing! Patient,informative,thorough,personable.
Dr Chu is an excellent doctor who I completely trust. She is knowledgeable, professional and well-organized.
Very down to earth and easy to talk to and understand!
I was seen by Dr. Chu almost right away. She was very polite, kind, and genuinely concerned about my health. She asked about my personal and sexual aspects of my life and how those stressors are affecting my overall health. I also asked her about switching methods of birth control, she was very frank and upfront about the information, and was able to break it down in simple terms that is easily understood. I feel confident with the information given to go forward in my decision to switch. I enjoy my annual visits to Dr. Chu and I know that I can rely on her for the best care.
She is a wonderful doctor and really pays attention to your needs. Also her support staff and nurses are always SUCH a pleasure. Helpful and friendly. They even remember me in a busy mid-town Manhattan office!
Dr Chu was great. Straight, to the point, and informative. answered all of my questions and worked quickly and professionally.
I always know my appointment with Dr. Chu will be a good one. She is very personable and a doctor you can talk to and ask any questions.
Dr. Chu was quite condescending and merely dismissed everything I told her. Even suggested that I didn't have the disorder that I have been diagnosed with by many physicians (despite doing no tests whatsoever). Also did not answer any questions I came in with. (Merely did quick exam.) Wish I could get my money back! For more accurate reviews, search her on Yelp.
We had a nice chat, a pap smear, but she forgot to give me a breast exam, and I forgot to remind her. It was my first visit and we went over my history and she knew my former physicians.
I agree that Dr. Chu is probably a very knowledgable doctor and one who knows her stuff; however, I feel she can be very impersonal... She barely made eye contact with me, rushed through our conversation, and left without really putting closure to my questions. I was not so happy with this appointment because I don't think she was as caring as I would have liked to the patients (like myself). Other than that, wait time was quick-- thank God, and she seemed very knowledgable.
I saw Dr. Chu today for the first time, and she was wonderful: friendly and personable and polite and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her! I've seen some people comment on the wait time before being seen, but that could be true of any doctor--they can't control when emergencies arise. I saw Dr. Chu immediately, but even if not, she is worth the wait. :)
This was my first experience with Dr. Chu and she was very good; I will definitely return. She was professional and thorough; also good bedside manner. The reception staff was also very nice and helpful. However wait time was a little long.
Dr. Chu is very nice and pleasant, and while I was nervous going in, she made me feel comfortable and totally at ease. The wait time pretty long- it was 45 minutes past my appointment time by the time the nurse called me in. Besides that I was happy with my experience.
Doctor is nice but not too thorough
Wait time improved drastically on this visit. From hours to minutes.
I felt like She cares about the patient sincerely and is reliable.
I have seen Dr. Chu for many years. She is great and answers your questions well. However, the wait time in the office is unstable. I was seen immediately at times while I had to wait 45 mins sometimes.
Dr. Chu was great! She answered all of my questions and helped me decide the best health plan that was right for me.
The wait wasn't long and Dr. Chu was extremely pleasant and professional.
Dr. Chu is extremely polite and understanding to her patient's needs.
My favorite Gynecologist. Thank You.
Dr. Chu is awesome but I waited an hour and a half to see her.
I guess due to their heavy flow of patients, the doctor has no time to interact with a patient. She rushed in, asked me the same questions that were on my form, spending most of her attention on the screen of the computer where she entered the data. She asked me what brought me here, and she took the pap, not explaining me what to expect. I wasn't there for a general check up, but that's how it felt like. It didn't answer any questions I had. And when the lab results did come, they only mentioned the std results, nothing about my health issue. If you have to see a doctor, she's not bad. But sadly, the experience wasn't helpful to me in any way.
Dr. Chu is very direct, and I think she cares and is a good doctor. On the other hand, the wait times at this practice are unacceptable and I am thinking about switching doctors for this reason. I have been to this doctor twice and the first time, I waited for nearly two hours, and today for almost an hour and a half for a 10:30 AM appointment, which ended up lasting only about 15 minutes.
I've been searching for a Gyn doctor and she immediately struck me as the one. Very attentive and takes the time to ask and answer questions. Felt very comfortable and she demonstrated professionalism.
quick, easy and (for an annual exam) relatively painless. She seems smart and very helpful for a first visit
Dr. Chu is through and concise, I read bad reviews about her bedside manner, however I felt she got to the point and all og my questions/concerns were answered. She's a GYN, not a psychiatrist. I recommend Dr. Chu.
I love Dr.Chu.She is a wonderful doctor, professional and caring. I highly recommend her to other patients.
It took 45 minutes to be seen. Wish she would say what procedure she was doing and not just rush through the exam. Very to the point and was in and out for the exam.
Dr. Chu is very quick and straight to the point. It's best to see her if you're comfortable with your body, know your sexual history and can be honest with yourself and your doctor. If you're going to dance around your issues because you're uncomfortable with things, see someone else. She has no time for BS haha. She is there to help you, not hurt you. I always feel taken care of after a visit with her!
The receptionist was and has been in the past very rude. i actually think she may be the billing person.
Dr Chu is very professional. She took the time to explain test results . I would recommend her. I was very pleased with the wait time
Dr. Chu is great. Very quick and straightforward. I like that in an obg. Shes not very chatty and gets right to the point. I am in and out of her office which is great.
I don't think she tries to connect with her patients. In my opinion she is is not very personable. Taking into consideration the type of doctor she is there is a certain level of warmth missing.
Kinda got the feeling of being judged by Dr. Chu for my being bisexual and sexually active (not in a monogamous relationship). On top of waiting over an hour (reception staff didn't know I was there despite being asked my name and appt time and being told to sit down). Very dissatisfied with Dr. Chu overall (had to wait a long time seeing her last time) so will be finding a new OBGYN.
The visit was horrendous from start to finish. Dr. Chu has no bedside manner; she was truck and disinterested in talking to me . She said she didn't know why anyone my age would want or need hormone replacement therapy; she didn't want to hear what I had to say. She said she could send Women's International form to her and she would think about it. Never heard back from her. Never to a script. The pelvic exam was devoid of interest. Too 2 minutes. Her assistant was as cold and disinterested as Dr. Chu. The receptionist seemed angry, no doubt being in this climate of tension and disinterest. Whatever is tis doctor doing being a gynecologist? Would never recommend her.
I love Dr. Chu. She's thorough and knowledgable and straight-forward answering all concerns and questions. However, my criticism lies not with Dr. Chu but with the folks who answer, or on frequent occasions, do not answer, her phone. I've literally been kept on hold for more than 10 minutes. They so rarely pickup the phone that I set time aside to make appointments because I never know how long it will take--that's making appointments, not actually having them. I've resorted to ZocDocs so that I can avoid them but that isn't always practical. And they're often not very helpful. It would be so great if her phones and calendar were handled by people more responsive, helpful and available.
Dr Chu is great. I would definitely recommend her.
Dr. Chu answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. She was receptive to follow up questions. She put my questions into context with other patients so I was able to judge if what I was experiencing was normal for my age. She even gave me printed materials which I didn't expect. Very thorough and professional. I liked that she took a moment to talk about my interest in gardening and where I live. Very nice!
First of all, you should know that this office double-(or multitple-) books appointment times. Dr. chu's manner is rather cold and not empathetic. In some ways she invalidated my experience, even before I was in her practice. I would not come here again. After all, she "gaslighted" me telling me she had done a breast exam which she had not done, when I asked "I understood that you would do a breast exam". Why? Why would I ask her about this, given how bad she treated me so far? Why would I want her to interact with me more? Only because I still thought she was a person. Please don't go to this doctor (or anyone at this location) if you want to have a relationship with your doctor. If you doubt all this, I am willing to publish this review under my own name. But I am scared of how she may punish me for it. That enough would tell me to stay away from this practice! (Ak yourself how you would feel!)
All the staffs were very efficient and really nice! Dr. Chu was great, she explained to me everything in detailed. Overall a great experience.
Dr. Chu answered my questions with empathy and asked if I had any other questions. I'm glad to have her as my gynecologist.
My visit with Dr. Chu was great! She was personable, attentive and very efficient. I will definitely be going back there next time for my checkup. The staff at the front desk as well as the nurse that I saw were very professional and friendly.
This was my first time seeing Dr. Chu and it was very satisfying. I was nervous at first, but she talked to me through the examination and I didn't even know that she was finished. I would definitely recommend her to other women and/or men. This is the first Gynecologist that made me feel calm.
The wait was a bit lengthy, but I could tell they were busy. Dr. Chu was nice enough- I really appreciated the fact that she had a sit-down chat with me before the exam- even if she seemed a bit distracted. Everyone in the office was nice as well.
Dr. Chu is an excellent Droctor. She is very easy to talk to and listened to my issues and gave me clear answers. She is a very good Doctor and I highly recommend her.
Quick and painless.
she was professional but not friendly or did not make me feel comfortable. Could not help to get the feeling that she cares for her patients.
Although the wait at times is longer than I would like, Dr Chu is always warm & welcoming. She's very professional as well.
Very long wait. This was first time this has happened. I know emergencies happen, but the staff could be more forthcoming with information/wait times. The receptionist staff is kind of clueless. Definitely could communicate within their team better. Doctor and nurse were great. I guess my main gripe is the reception staff.
Rude, condescending and rushed.
The nurse who assisted the doctor was very professional and friendly. I remember her from last year...name is Akeema or something like that - an attractive black young woman. The doctor seems to know what she is doing but is cold - never smiles - all business.
Dr. Chu was very professional, she listened to me and was very attentive to my needs.
Dr. Chu was very knowledgeable and personable. She really took the time to get to know me as an individual and talk about my overall health, not just my reproductive health. She has excellent bedside manners and I felt very at ease with telling her personal details. I enjoyed this visit with Dr. Chu and will be coming back to see her again.
She's absolutely fabulous.
Dr. Chu is thorough, reassuring, and kind. She conducts an appointment efficiently but she listens carefully and never makes me feel rushed. I would highly recommend her.
Incredibly nice, quick, and really helpful! Best doctor I've seen in NYC!
First time patient of Dr. Chu for my annual exam. The office staff were all very kind and very punctual! Little to no wait! Dr. Chu obviously had a lot of clients to see but she listened to my concerns and responded in a way that validated my concerns and that showed she cares about her patients. She didn't rush me out the door but she got the exam done SO fast! It was a surprisingly pleasant annual exam
My visit was very nice, Dr. Chu and her nurse were very professional, efficient and pleasant.
She is always at least one hour late. I have been seeing her for 5 years and every time I visit, she is late.
SHE IS VERY GOOD.
The front desk staff was extremely inattentive and borderline rude; the office did not seem clean and the doctor made me feel very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this doctor or the office unless someone needed help ASAP and couldn't find another doctor.
Love Dr. Chu and her entire staff. Great place to go.
I would not recommend her at all. First of all, you have to book at least a month in advance to see her. She gave me completely wrong advice about how to deal with my situation. I went to go see another gynecologist who didn't understand Dr. Chu's treatment plan, and gave me a more proactive approach compared to Dr. Chu's choice. Overall, I felt like Dr. Chu prefers to do annual exams and doesn't like to deal with real complicated problems.
This is my third or fourth visit. Doctor Chu is exceptionally medically intelligent, communicative and kind.
I love my doctor!
Dr Chu is very friendly and professional
My first time visit and it as very good.
Thank you for listening to me and for your help.
she is an incredible GYN.
Doctor was great and informative! It felt a little rushed but that's only because I had to remind the receptionist that I was waiting to see the doctor after an hour so it wasn't the doctors fault I didn't get seen on time.
This is the 2nd time I see Dr. Chu. The first time it was for a colposcopy and the 2nd was for a LEEP (for both appointments I had to book a month in advance). Both times I was called into the room in less than 5 minutes (because I didn`t want to wait long I purposely made my appointment to be the last appointment of the day). Each time the doctor explained the procedure and gave me options. I never felt rushed. She personally called me with my lab results and took the time to discuss everything with me. What had a potential to be a nerve-racking situation became easier to deal with because Dr.Chu was a professional all the way.
Very friendly and quick but thorough exam. I like Dr. Chi a lot. I'm glad I found her! The rest of the office staff is friendly and professional too.
Dr. Chu is very professional. She took the time to listen to all of my concerns and answered all of my questions directly and thoroughly. I like that she quickly gets down to business but still manages to treat you as an individual.
Dr Chu made me feel very comfortable
Dr. Chu was great. She is easy to talk to and explains medical jargon well. It was my first appointment with her and before I went into the examination room I sat with her in an office to discuss medical history and the reason for my visit. I felt very comfortable; overall the visit was great.
I am always happy when I don't have to sit in the waiting room more that 20 mins for a doctors visit
She was late, very erratic and I was rushed the whole time. I was telling her of my symptoms but all she said was maybe it's the birth control pills - check with me in about 2 months or so. I was left very unhappy and I'm rescheduling with another doctor because I feel there is something still wrong.
She's personable and efficient. The checkup was relatively short (which was great), but thorough.
This was my first visit. Dr. Chu took the time to learn about me and my health back ground. She explained each step involved with my exam, listened and responsive to each question. We developed a followup plan together. Would highly recommend.
Apart from the wait time (appointment was 3:15, I was called into a room to change at about 4:15, and waited another 15 minutes before the doctor showed up), the appointment itself was satisfactory. I like that the doctor is straightforward, clear, and professional. The one thing that well and truly ruined this for me is that I was supposed to get a referral/prescription for an ultrasound and mammogram (found a lump), and didn't. I now cannot do ANYTHING about this until next week, when the good doctor is back in the office. However unlikely, I might have cancer, and I can't do anything until someone deigns to give me a referral.
Dr. Chu is not a warm and fuzzy type. However, she spent time talking to me about hormone replacement and making sure that I understood the pros and cons. Other doctors had not done that. She's very straight forward and no nonsense in her manner, but seems to want to make sure that her patients take responsibility for educating themselves about their health care options. I will go back to her and trust her judgment in helping me navigate menopause successfully.
Great bedside manner. She made the appointment easy and stress free. The office staff was friendly and helpful.
She is lovely and wonderful.
Dr. Chu is great. Very efficient and quick, but also explains everything very well and is available for questions.
The doctor is just alright, but the staff at the reception desk is so incompetent that I would never recommend this doctor to one of my friends.
She listened to my questions and remarks and responded with her medical opinion/answers. That's what I like.
The only thing was she forgot about a referral and administering a flu shot, so I was referred to another floor as she wasn't available to order it. Luckily it wasn't too bad of a wait, but it was mildly irritating. I did love her bedside manner, though.
Fast and efficient. She made me feel very comfortable under her care. Great doctor!
Dr. Chu was attentive, empathetic and a wonderful listener. She explained all options available and her honest recommendations.
Dr Chu was OK - my only real gripe about the place was that she was on vacation for months apparently and when I showed up to the office for an appointment nobody informed me that she wasn't there, and I had to wait another 2 months before seeing her. That's why I switched to another network ... a lot of work and grief just to get a prescription renewed.
Dr. Chu is very upfront and I appreciate her no-nonsense demeanor, however she is so busy it's hard to get a minute with her. In no way do I think she's a bad doctor, but I always got the impression that she was pushing me out so she could get to another patient. She also pronounced my name wrong every time I visited (at one point I was seeing her every other week for tests) despite correcting her several times. I get that she's in Manhattan in a very busy office right off Herald Square, but it would be nice to get a little more face time with the doctor.
Dr. Chu was very nice but she was preaching more than actually trying to examine me. Wait was very long while the exam was for 5 minutes, or even less. Felt like it was useless to even have that appointment with her.
Answered all my questions and understands concerns. Explain or inform procedures about to be done.
Dr. Chu is by far the best OB-GYN I have ever seen.
For my first visit, I don't think it went that well... I had to wait a very long time in the waiting room as well as during the bedside. The procedure was okay. The doctor seemed nice though... Maybe it just wasn't a good day. I will see how it ends up being on my next appointment... If I undergo the same experience, I may not recommend this place. But for now, you can try this doctor.
She is always late... ALWAYS. I have been coming to Kristine for 3 years now and each time she is late and I have to wait at least 45 min. The front desk is somewhat rude. On the plus side, she is super quick with her patients. You will be in and out in no time.
Dr.Chu is great! She explains everything, a trait that I didn't get with my previous GYN. Very personable, very knowledgable and organized. The wait time is rather long, but after I see her I completely forget about the time I waited. Also, her appointment dates are rather hard to come by so it's always best to book as soon as possible.
Dr. Chu is great! My only dislike would be that's it's so hard to book an appointment with her sometimes.
It was my first time going to a gynecologist and Dr. Chu made me feel extremely comfortable! She explained everything clearly and was very conversational. I had to wait 30 mins, but like everyone before me said, she's definitely worth the wait!
Dr Chu was efficient and knowledgable. She definitely isn't warm and fuzzy but she took the time to listen to me and run tests rather than just pushing birth control as a cure-all. She's great.
I had a great visit with Dr. Chu. She was friendly and gentle. She answered all of my questions and gave great recommendations regarding regular check ups. I will definitely visit her office again.
She is by far one of the best gynecologist I have ever met. She takes her time to explain what she is doing or any additional tests required. She makes sure to answer questions. She cares and it shows!
I came to Dr. Chu because of all of the great reviews on zocdoc- unfortunately, I missed all the awful and brutally honest ones on Yelp! I will NEVER go back. I was having awful period pains and heavy bleeding for two months, and I almost passed out in pain, so I wanted to get to the bottom of this. Although I expressed my hesistency and did NOT want to be on a bc pill, she insisted that would solve my problems. It dis not, before I could start the pack after the start of my next period, I passed out at work and had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I had an ovarian cyst rupture- the size of a baseball. I was in the hospital for 3 days. I was told to go back to my doctor for a follow-up after my release. I couldn't get an appointmet for almost two weeks even after explaining that the hospital orderded me to return. I was furious.
I love Kristine Chu!
Dr. Kristine Chu takes the time to discuss health concerns with her patients and suggests best course of action for medical concerns. She makes it a point to provide her patients with all the medical information and recommendations but never once pushes her own personal agenda on them. I appreciate her bedside manner and the time she takes with me as her patient.
I really enjoy Dr. Chu and I trust her expertise.
I love Kristine Chu! She is very thorough and has great bedside manner, which I appreciate especially since I work in the medical field myself.
So nice and helpful, with a no BS/ take care of business attitude!
She was very friendly & took the time to answer any questions I had.
This was my second visit with Dr. Chu. She is extremely cordial and responds to all of my questions and concerns with knowledge. thorough answers. I have already recommend her to several people and will continue to do so.
Wonderful, I did not have to wait, her staff was very professional, she was also very professional
She is a outstanding, hands down!
After seeing Dr. Chu for several years, I went for a follow up annual and she couldn't find my records and swore that I'd only been to see her once. She dismissed concerns that I had and was finished with the exam in about 5 minutes. Terrible bedside manner. Will not see her again.
She is very easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable.
Professional, personable, and fast! Was also taken right on time.
the office itself is pretty difficult to deal with. the people at the front desk are unhelpful and rude, however Dr. Chu is wonderful and prompt. i really enjoy her/
I highly recommend Dr. Chu. She was extremely knowledgeable and reassuring.
Dr. Chu and her support staff are disorganized to the point of negligence. The wait is always long, and Dr. Chu is often rushed and distracted. She failed to properly send a script to my pharmacy and it took multiple phone calls over two days to get it resent. Then she prescribed another medication with the incorrect dosage, which took another day of phone calls to resolve. She is sloppy and clearly unconcerned with her patients' well-being.
Very attentive and informative! Very happy with her as my doctor!
I was left in the waiting room for 45 minutes after my appoint men and no one could tell me how much longer I would have to wait so I left.
Very informative and great friendly staff
Dr. Chu's staff was friendly and efficient, and Dr. Chu herself was direct, caring, spoke to me like an adult and answered all my questions. I'm recommending her to my friends.
I saw her for my annual exam. I had lots of questions and she took the time to answer them - and to make sure I had a visit scheduled for a test I needed. The DOCS office is disorganized now so you will likely have to wait for your appointment. Worth the time to see her.
She was amazing. I am a senior. She was patient and thorough.
It was good, apart from the wait. I actually had to leave and come back another day--and I still had to wait on that day!
I am a regular patient of Dr. Chu's so I'm probably prejudice when I say that I am very pleased that she is my gynecologist. She is knowledgeable, informative and professional. But, I'm particularly pleased with the fact that she is very easy to talk to and a bonus: she has a great sense of humor. I would recommend her to anyone.
Excellent, informative, professional
Her "bed side Manner" was stellar. She asked all the right questions about me. I am grateful that I was referred to her She didn't rush me and really spent her time explaining medical options. I am higher risk of BC and she recognized my concerns and really went the extra mile for me!
Very nice and patient to listen to the patient.
Besides the wait it was good.
Very good. Nice, direct, I felt comfortable. Would recommend her to friends.
Dr. Chu is great! She's sweet, kind, a very good listener, and remembers details from your previous visit. Going to the gyno can be daunting but at her office it never is. Nurse Hakema (sp?) is wonderful too!
She was polite and helpful, although it did feel like the clinic was in general very busy and I did not feel like I was given very clear instructions.
I've always enjoyed Dr. Chu, however, the wait time was absurd. I waited for over an hour to see her.
I am extremely very satisfied with Dr Chu, however the waiting time is unecceptable. All my appts to date including today's I've had to wait over 30 minutes. If I schedule an appt at a specified time I should not have to wait more then 15 minutes. My time is valuable therefore if this continues to happen I will have to look for a new GYN.
She was really patient and answered all my questions.
I always have a good visit with Dr. Chu!
Really like Dr. Chu. She has a great sense of what I individually am interested in/need. Very much to the point. My wait was negligible. By the time I had filled out the new patient forms, I was called to the examining room.
The visit with Dr. Chu was great - fast and comfortable. The other staff, however, are a mess.
Dr Chu was very professional. She asked probing questions and took the time to understand my problems and needs.
Great Doctor!!..Worth the wait:)
It was my first visit with her. I thought she was great and made me feel very comfortable.
She's incredibly thorough and cares about her patient's well being. I finally found an OBGYN that fits my needs.
Informative and patiently listens to my thoughts. Nothing out of the ordinary, like any other first time check-up protocol. Felt comfortable. Was seen right away after filling out necessary paper work (since this was a first time visit). Facilities were clean and pleasant staff.
I always wait almost 1hr.
This was my second time seeing Dr. Chu. I like her and think she has a good bedside manner; however both times I've been to see her I have waited over an hour past my scheduled appointment to see the doctor.
Doctor was running behind so Mt exam was quick. She didn't take the time to let me know what she was doing to me.
Fantastic doctor with a great sense of humor.
It was quick but sufficient.
She was professional and seemed very competent. Listened to my issues and addressed them. Yes was a little quick but fully addressed my issues. I had read other patients complain about the wait time but I did not find it bad at all. I had minimal time before the nurse saw me and some wait to see the doctor but not more than 10 minutes.
Dr. Chu was brisk but thorough and confident. She took the time to show me how to use the nuvaring and waited for me, even though it took a couple tries. The nurse who took my blood pressure was pleasant and apologized for my long wait. Though this might not necessarily be Dr. Chu's fault, I had a poor experience with the front desk reception and an unsatisfactory wait time. The receptionists were unfriendly and made me wait until one of them was finished telling a story about her personal life, before addressing me. It would have been nice to get a heads up if there is a delay in the appointment. I'm sure the receptionists knew that I would be waiting over an HOUR before Dr. Chu saw me.
She's great - personable and detail-oriented. I felt as though she listened well and gave me good advice.
Even though I was made to wait an hour, they were all very nice about it and apologized. The people at the desk are really really nice and the nurse was awesome.
Dr. Chu has a nice bedside manner. She is thorough, but is quick and to-the-point, but has a subtle sense of humor. Fastest annual exam ever!
Dr. Chu and her staff were friendly, informative & professional. I am excited to be a new patient.
Dr. Chu is warm, professional, knowledgeable.
Very thorough and always professional. She makes you feel at ease!
She makes me feel at ease, and is a great communicator. She won't let you leave until you get the information you need. Her staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
She's a great doctor!
She was very articulate, and very concerned with keeping me at ease. I felt she had a firm grasp of my situation, and understood the topics and options well.
I had to wait a very long time. But Dr Chu is the best.
Dr. Chu was cordial in her inquiries. She also distracted me from any pain or uncomfortability in the examination process, which I appreciate.
Great doctor. I've been seeing her for a couple years now.
I have a serious medical condition which includes problems with the sensation of touch--not the ideal patient to see any doctor, let alone a GYN. Dr. Chu was understanding and was able to get the exam done with the least discomfort to me. She's an excellent listener who asked informed questions about my condition. Dr. Chu's assistant, Akima, was excellent, too--calmed me when I was nervous and let me know what to expect. Both are top-notch professionals who made me feel welcome!
She was easy to talk to and happy to answer my questions. Wish it didn't take so long to get in (office was freezing!) but all in all, she was great and I will stick with her.
very quick, felt like a gyno-factory.
Overall, Dr. Chu was organized and professional. However, I would have liked more time to discuss some of the health information. I felt like the session was rushed and I was not really given a chance to gather my thoughts and express some of my concerns and raise certain questions I had before thw appointment.
It is difficult to reach her. It was stressful. (unable to email her, can't catch her by phone....)
Dr. Chu is always realy great, very thorough and explains everything so I can understand! Plus she makes me feel very comfortable.
Dr. Chu is great, very knowledgeable and helpful, but the wait time at the office is terrible.
Very knowledgable, courteous and professional. I highly recommend this doctor.
I made my appointment based on other's reviews, and I have to say I'm extremely glad to have found her. She was very nice, knowledgable and funny too. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Chu is smart, attentive, friendly and professional - perfect combination. I'm thrilled to have found her.
I will be making her by OBGYN for as long as I am in NYC.
I was very pleased with Dr. Chu. I had to wait less than 30 minutes after arriving in the waiting room. Once in the patient room, Dr. Chu was with me within 5-10 minutes. Some doctors make you sit in the exam room for a while. She did not spend too much time with me, but everything that needed to be done was done and all my needs were met. I know some doctors make you do all sort of other tests just because one is a new patient. These tests only waste time and money but Dr. Chu did not do anything unnecessary which I was appreciative off.
Dr. Chu was great. Quick, painless and answered all my questions. I will definitely recommend her to all my friends!
Dr. Chu did a wonderful job of answering all of my questions; she was extremely patient, attentive, and thorough. She conducted herself with professionalism and courtesy, while also being very approachable and friendly, which made me feel at ease throughout the exam. I made an appointment ahead of time and arrived early, so I did not have to wait long to be seen. Dr. Chu is excellent and I highly recommend her.
Worth the wait!
My 2nd year with her & I feel at ease during my visits. Always happy that she doesn't call me back to tell me there's something wrong with me, so that's always great! ;)
It was my second visit and I thought she wasn't as friendly as she was on my first visit but still within a good bedside manner. Felt the visit to be a bit rushed as I walked out the door but still got what I needed. Considering the short wait time at her office and super friendly nurses I will be patriotic this office and Dr. Chu.
Very professional and efficient. Her office staff are also very professional. She took the time to answer my questions and concerns and made me feel comfortable in the office. I will see this doctor again.
She was professional and funny. I would highly recommend her...
I thought Christine was good, but I would appreciated more face to face communication, instead of having her focus on her computer the entire time, while she inputted my results and answers to questions.
So quick with the uncomfortable stuff, but very patient and attentive to my questions. My new primary!
Im quite fond of dr chu. Has always been kind and friendly. Fields all my crazy questions!
Dr. Chu is great. She is friendly and makes you feel comfortable.
Dr. Chu was very professional and made me feel at ease. Definitely recommend her.
She made me feel at ease as I am always nervous going to a doctor even for a simple checkup.
She was very easy to talk with. Also thorough in her questioning and follow up examination.PJ
Dr. Chu was pleasant and efficient.
Very friendly. I felt comfortable with her
Polite but rushed - didn't feel I had enough time with her or that she was super attentive to my concerns/questions.
I've seen Dr. Chu several times. She's consistently kind, smart and professional.
Bedside manner was poor. I have since found another ob/gyn that communicates as a equal with me. I had a small issue and a very impersonal undetailed notice was sent to alert me. I was unable to gain any further information when I asked, apart from a vague response from a assistant.
Very pleasant, no sugar coating and gets the job done. Definitely returning for my annual checkup
Very pleasant, I was comfortable right away
Think she's excellent. Would like to see a systemic change that would encourage doctors to spend just a little more time with their patients though.
This is my second appointment with Dr. Chu and I intend to stay with her. She's knowledgeable and informative, very easy to talk to, doesn't make the patient feel rushed and that she's thinking of the next one. I also feel that she respects her patients; that's very important to me. Finally, she has a good sense of humor.
The wait was a little long especially since it was my first visit with her which I understand. Overall I think the visit went great and you can't really expect to see any doctor right away at your appointment time in the city.
Very professional and personalable. Will go back.
Dr. Chu is great but I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to see her. Too long in my book.
Good doctor, long waiting time, double booking. Office Staff not polite enough.
There was a tremendous wait (over an hour) The doctors/patient visits would be more effective if the office attendants/receptionists did not double book/overbook the doctors.
She was very nice and professional. I feel comfortable talking to her about issues.
Dr. Chu is very knowledgeable and personable. She makes you feel very comfortable. I would definitely recommend her.
It was excellent.
Dr. Chu is a competent doctor but seemed uncomfortable with discussion of my condition. She asked if I had questions but when I did, she simply handed me a photocopy of generic FAQs. She seemed uncomfortable generally - I would not recommend her for other LGBTQ patients.
Dr. Chu was friendly and caring. Nothing to complain about Dr. Chu at at all. The nurses and the person at the reception desk was friendly as well. Over all they practiced great hospitality
I just switched from another gynecologist to Dr. Chu and loved her. She was thorough, very caring and extremely knowledgeable. I definitely recommend her!
First time seeing Dr. Chu, she was very professional It was easy to talk with her basic questions asked…Great Doctor !!!
She had a lovely bedside manner and was easy to talk to. She was also professional.
She was very friendly, warm and informative. It was easy to talk with her.
Dr. Chu was really professional but also friendly and easy to talk to. I saw her right at my appointment time and the nurse and receptionists were polite and prompt.
She has a very professional bedside manner. She got through the appointment quickly but answered all of my questions. Fastest gyn exam I've ever had! No complaints.
This was the first time I've had to wait in the waiting room. Dr. Chu is interesed and invested in my health. I like that. She was supportive and encouraging in a great way that made the dreaded annual appointment a good experience. She is great.
Very professional and easy to talk to.
Went in for an annual checkup. First time seeing this doc. Experience was as expected. Exam was explained, basic questions asked, opportunity for me to ask as well.
great doctor, waited nearly an hour.
It went well...
Dr. Chu is very observant and brought up something that would be useful to me in the future.
Professional, yet sensitive. Encouraging without patronizing.
no wait! very easy to talk to.
Dr. Chu is very caring an patient doctor. She explains what is going on during the examination in full and she do not rush.
Dr Chu was nice, she answered all my questions and she treated me very well
