“I drove for 50 minutes to fulfill an appointment with Dr. Sumner and staff. I was not disappointed. In fact I purchased glasses (two pair) and contact lenses even though I could buy them for less elsewhere. Good solid companies with integrity and knowledge need to be supported, otherwise all you have to choose from are the "run 'em through quick" establishments. Dr. Sumner took ample time with me for the consultation, background and exam; covering areas no other optometrist had in the past. I only expect any future visits will produce the same outcome.”

Dr. Larry Sumner is a solo practitioner with over thirty years of experience in primary eyecare.

My review mainly pertains to the check-in process. I filled out some medical forms before my appointment, but the front desk gave me several forms to complete. I had not even completed all the forms and was called into the examination room. They began some of the tests and asked questions, while they also told me to fill out the forms. I would have liked to complete the medical forms in the lobby so that I did not have to carry my items and a large clipboard around the entire office. I was unsure if I filled out all the forms correctly because of the distractions. Also, once in the examination room, the nurse had to disinfect the equipment in front of me and she did not wear any gloves. I would have liked the equipment in the room to be sanitized before I walked into the room. However, my experience with Dr. Sumner was great. He was knowledgeable but lacked clear communication on his findings during the eye exam. If you are curious, you must ask the questions!

The doctor went thru all tte standard tests for glasses and contacts but it took about an hr + which seems long compared to my other check ups with other doctors. The doctor would mumble when telling me where to look which I found difficult. My insurance did cover the eye exam but only the basic and no one told me ID be paying another sum because of having an astigmatism. At my old office, they would check all my benefits and tell me about cost early on. That was not the case here.
Very indifferent about this place, will likely not be back.

Dr Sumner was very kind and helpful with detailed explanations. Front desk and other staff were very amicable as well, but the man helping with eyeglasses sales was very pushy and didn't listen to customer's preferences.

Good appointment. I could have used without the out of pocket, hard up sell to do the octomap thing. Very minimal value.
The gentleman in charge of helping find glasses and fit was fantastic. Would go back solely for his expertise.
