NY
I am a licensed psychologist who has worked with clients in a variety of therapeutic settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and private practice. I have been working in private practice since 2011, focusing on counseling clients who are suffering from addiction, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. I am a trained yoga teacher and practitioner, and I started my career as a NYC public school teacher before pursuing a career in psychology. My therapeutic approach can be best described as collaborative, supportive, and change-based. I believe that you have the solutions to your current struggles, but you’re “too close” to see them clearly. My role is to help you clear the path.

Getting to know Dr. Lauren Ellis

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that the key to a good therapist / client relationship is to find a therapist you feel comfortable being honest and vulnerable with. You should feel confident and hopeful about his or her ability to help you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our work together, I take a collaborative and supportive approach. Each session is a space where you can feel safe, heard, and challenged in a constructive way. Early on, we’ll focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship and developing a shared understanding of what brings you in. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, patterns, and goals, and together we’ll identify practical steps toward meaningful change. I believe that you already hold the answers within you—my role is to help you clear the noise, reconnect with your voice, and move forward with clarity and confidence. I'll tailor the process to fit your needs and pace, always balancing insight with action. Over time, you can expect to develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and more effective ways of relating to yourself and others.
