Dr. Lauren Outlaw is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Bariatric Medicine Specialist from South Bend, Indiana. Raised by parents who instilled in her the value of community service, she was motivated to pursue a major in Psychology Pre-medicine at Xavier University of Louisiana. During her time at Xavier, she was a member of several organizations that allowed her to serve both her college campus and the local New Orleans community. Dr. Outlaw graduated magna cum laude from Xavier and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. A transformative surgical breast oncology rotation revealed the critical need for women's health advocacy. Witnessing the sacrifices women made in prioritizing family over self-care sparked her interest in women's health. Transitioning from surgery to her Obstetrics and Gynecology rotation, she found a specialty that allowed her to address preventive care and reproductive health throughout all phases of life. As a young woman who experienced gynecologic health challenges herself, she related to her patients on multiple levels, solidifying her choice of this career path. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. During residency, her rotations included time in Guatemala and Honduras, providing her with a diverse and enriching educational experience. After residency, she practiced medicine in Elkhart, Indiana. While she found fulfillment in local volunteer work, her passion for international service led her to work in a Burmese refugee camp in Thailand with the Shoklu Research Project and in South Sudan with Doctors Without Borders. Following her tenure with Doctors Without Borders, she relocated to Northern Virginia and joined Kathy Wolf MD, PC. This role enabled her to continue her international work through surgical mission trips to Haiti.
