**Thank you for choosing ChangeWell Psych! We are a private pay practice and are not in-network with any insurance companies.** Hi, I'm Leia (yes, as in Princess Leia!). With a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri and over 15 years of experience in the field, I've worked extensively to support individuals through life's challenges. My training includes a post-doctoral fellowship at Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center, a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Delaware, and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. These are the themes I often hear from clients: You're over it. Feeling sad and heartbroken about what you've endured in life. You don't want to continue struggling just to get through the day. Your nervous system feels like it's in survival mode, and it's affecting your relationships, self-worth, and work. It's time for that black cloud over your head to stop controlling you. Whether you're struggling with identity, sexuality, relational trauma, grief, anxiety, or burnout, you have options to grow beyond this quicksand keeping you stuck. I promise you that, with practice, you can become that Yoda-like guru who tackles life despite fear. We will do that through affirming, inclusive, and science-backed strategies such as somatic experiencing, exposure therapy, and honing your values-based choices. There is no one-size-fits-all in being human, and we don't approach therapy that way.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is already hard work. We can make it easier. Our sessions are highly collaborative so that we can ensure that we are approaching therapy in a way that is catered for you. I am intensively trained in several science-backed approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Behavior Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. You'll learn about how human behavior and feelings change through an engaging and experiential process in our sessions. Of note, I can NOT offer medication prescriptions and I do not offer psychological testing at this time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session is 50 minutes long in person or via telehealth (in 40+ states). In our first session, I'll ask you questions to get to know you. You can trust that I will guide you through that first session, so that we create a plan that helps you feel confident you will reach your emotional wellness goals. I initially suggest weekly sessions to optimize therapy traction.
