What should a new client know about working with you?

I use evidence based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and others to ensure that my patients get the best care possible. My style is relaxed and straightforward. I work hard to create an environment that makes my patients comfortable and a relationship that allows them to be themselves when they are with me. I like to look at problems collaboratively. Yes, I'm the Psychologist, but YOU are the expert in the room. I rely heavily on your understanding of your own experiences and symptoms so that we can find a treatment that you will benefit from. I try to stay away from prescriptive and directive approaches. Instead, I find that problem-solving together brings the best results. I'll lend my training and expertise, and you'll tell me what works and doesn't work. Together, we'll improve your quality of life. When I'm working with children under the age of 18, parents are a huge part of the team. Parenting a child with a medical or mental health condition doesn't come with a manual. I'm here to support you so that your child can reach their full potential.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first step is to book a complimentary consultation call with me. We'll talk about what you're looking for in a therapist, how I can help, scheduling and billing procedures. If it's a good fit, we'll schedule a formal intake. The next meeting is an information gathering session, otherwise known as an intake. I'll hear all about you, your history, your physical and emotional symptoms, and all of the experiences that have shaped you over time. I will also ask you to give me permission to speak with your doctors if you're comfortable. This way I have all the information I need to provide you the best care. From there, you can expect to meet with me weekly for at least the first month. Once we start to make some sustainable progress, we'll start to space out our sessions if that is your preference. We will monitor progress toward your goals and decide together when you've reached them and when to discontinue treatment.
