Getting to know Dr. Lindsay Israel-Gaines
Dr. Lindsay Israel-Gaines, MD, is a Board-Certified specialist in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Israel was born and raised in South Florida. As the daughter of a primary care physician, she has long understood the profound satisfaction that comes from caring for patients. Witnessing her father's dedication inspired her to embark on her own journey in medicine, creating a legacy of care and compassion. Lindsay earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida and then completed her General Psychiatry Residency, followed by an intensive Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
Dr. Israel's draw to psychiatry is deeply personal and profound. Unlike other fields of medicine, psychiatry provides her the unique opportunity to truly converse with her patients. Rather than just relying on lab values, she places immense value on understanding her patients’ narratives, believing that this approach not only aids in accurate assessment and diagnosis but also facilitates a collaborative treatment process. This methodology empowers patients, allowing them to reclaim control and actively participate in their therapeutic journey.
At the heart of her treatment approach lies the foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dr. Israel emphasizes the critical importance of CBT in managing conditions like depression and anxiety. Ensuring that every session integrates some form of CBT, she strives for optimal outcomes for her patients. She prides herself on her role as a listener, educator, and advocate of honesty and creativity. One of her foremost aims is to present her patients with multiple safe and viable options, empowering them to take an active role in the decision-making process.
The ever-evolving nature of psychiatry, with its rapid advancements in evidence-based treatments and groundbreaking research, continually fuels Dr. Israel's passion.

This doctor kept saying that I am suicidal, and I tried 5-6x which is correct, but in our initial conversation that’s all she kept talking about. She was absolutely very insensitive, spoke to me with absolutely no sense of care, but a simple I can’t help you because your problems are way above me, which I get but why did she have to keep reiterating that I have been suicidal 5-6 times? What is the point? This doctor must have a high horse on her, and probably only cares about certain things, but definitely not helping people. Her attitude is very black and white, she’s assertive with no feelings. I hate that I spent my time talking to her. She made me feel like shit

if you have any other medical conditions she will refuse to diagnose you with any mental health issues. immediately wants to put you on medication without any other intervention first. was very rude and kept asking me “why are you here” repeatedly despite me trying to explain. never asked for a medical history and was rude when brought up. terrible experience, kinda traumatizing lowkey.

The site does not accept Medicare Part B unless you live in California. This is not stated on Zocdoc or on their site. I wasted two hours yesterday filling out information to be sent an email stating i had to fill on out the information again on their site. I was not given a scheduling time after and was told that someone would get in touch with me, nobody ever did.
I had to go back on their site and do a live chat. It was the that i was informed that they do not accept Medicare Part B, unless you live in California. Probably because they want to have the chance at hooking you with out of pocket instead. Terrible site!!
