Getting to know Dr. Lisa Chimes Romy

I'm Dr. Lisa Chimes Romy, a licensed clinical psychologist trained at William James College (PsyD). I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, trauma, and related issues, with a particular focus on working with children, teens, and young adults. My therapy approach emphasizes understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how re-evaluating these connections can foster personal and interpersonal growth. By providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment, I help clients gain insights, develop coping skills, and make positive behavioral changes.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize a comprehensive therapy approach incorporating DBT, CBT, ACT, and client-centered techniques to support clients across the lifespan, with a particular focus on children, teens, and young adults. My practice focuses on goal oriented work, with relationship-focused treatment, emphasizing the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance to foster growth and healing. In addition to my clinical work, I also supervise psychology students, sharing my knowledge and expertise to help shape the next generation of therapists.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before the initial session, clients complete standard intake paperwork, which I review to facilitate treatment. I typically hold 45-minute sessions once a week, with the option for more frequent appointments, conducted via a confidential, HIPAA-compliant video platform. I do not prescribe medication. At the end of each session, I offer at-home therapeutic strategies and exercises to support client progress and provide brief support between sessions to enhance the overall clinical experience.
