Dr. Louise Chuu earned her BA degree in art history from Cornell University in Ithaca; her studies included a semester in Florence, Italy, at the distinguished Instituto de Lorenzo de Medici. She then pursued two years of premedical studies and laboratory research before entering medical school at the State University of New York Health Science Center. Dr. Chuu received residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Lukes’-Roosevelt Hospital Center; while there, she contributed to research regarding manipulation of fetal position to allow vaginal delivery and avoid Cesarean section. Dr. Chuu’s residency was followed by a year in private obstetrics and gynecology practice; she joined the faculty at Lenox Hill Hospital in December 2019. She is interested in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese in addition to English. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

My first women's wellness visit with Dr. Louise Chuu was extremely disappointing. She made several judgmental assumptions without taking the time to know me as a patient. For example, I recently underwent IVF, and instead of asking why, she assumed I had infertility issues, which felt presumptive and disrespectful.
When I mentioned seeing other specialists and even having a biopsy to confirm a medical diagnosis, she dismissed their credibility, focusing more on the doctors’ names than the actual medical facts, which felt unprofessional and bizarre.
Her approach during exams was also troubling. She performed a Pap smear without any warning and didn’t check on my comfort. After completing a breast exam, she gave zero feedback, leaving me uncertain about the results.
Overall, I found her dismissive, uncommunicative, and lacking in the thoroughness I expect from a healthcare provider. I wouldn’t recommend her if you’re looking for someone compassionate and attentive to your needs.

Doctor Chuu was really nice, I was there for a pregnancy test in my early weeks; The experience was smooth until they find some concern in my situation; I was given referrals for ultrasound but the frontdesk lady didn’t know what it was and were giving me different information from what the doctor suggested; My blood work was done awful too; I got largest bruise ever on both my arms in my 30+ year of life; I was told to come back two days later for another blood work; but they failed to do it as they can’t do it in the bruise area and they tried on both my hands but failed again; I was given referral for blood work on other Northwell labs; And I wasn’t able to access my blood work result in their online portal even the doctor already has called me about the results with very blurry summary; Doctor Chuu asked me to do more tests but they couldn’t conduct those onsite; I need to contact and make appointments myself for other facilities which is a pain;

The office was very clean, calm, and welcoming. I arrived early and was seen about 20 minutes earlier than my scheduled time. Dr. Chuu was very attentive and really listened to the information I told her and gave useful feedback. Throughout the entire appointment she maintained a comfortable environment and made sure I knew what was going on. I will definitely continue booking with her in the future.

She was very attentive. I will say that her office is located on the 9th floor and on the day of my appointment the elevators weren’t working. This was very stressful for me and I couldn’t take the staircase due to surgery and being pregnant at the same time.

This was my first time getting a pap smear and very long overdue (I’m 28), so I was honestly nervous about being judged. But Dr. Chuu lives up to all the positive reviews I read that led me to book an appointment with her. She was kind, attentive, gentle, and explained things very thoroughly to me. She advised me on overall women’s health as well, encouraging me to focus on certain things at this age to prepare me for changes in my body to come at this age.

Dr. Chuu is so friendly that I felt like it wasn’t my first visit. She was very informative about options for treatment I asked. Every year I had to find a new OBGYN because either a practice was dishonest or a doctor wasn’t warm and nice. I think I will see Dr. Chuu many more years.
