Meet the owner, Dr. Madison Barnes, an optometrist with a passion for helping you see the world with clarity and confidence. Originally from Hampstead, North Carolina, Dr. Barnes attended East Carolina University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Studies.
Dr. Barnes then received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama Birmingham and completed her internship training at Omni Eye Center in Atlanta, GA, The Veterans Administration Hospital in Charlotte, NC and at Nashville Eye Group in Nashville, TN. Dr. Barnes has been working in and around the Atlanta area for the past 3 years before taking the leap to follow her passion to start her own practice. With her extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of vision issues, she is dedicated to offering personalized care tailored to each patient's unique needs.

I love Dr. Barnes, I’ve been seeing her for years & when I found out she started her own practice, I followed! Her expertise and bedside manner as a doctor is hands down the best, her and her staff are very informative during each process of my exam. You truly feel cared for as a patient, not a number. I’ve highly recommend her to all my friends and family members. She’s also one of the only doctors I know that sees young kids too! Thank you for your care Dr. Barnes and staff!

I found out about Dr. Barnes through a friend and she was able to get me into the best contact lenses I've ever worn! Before her, at my past eye exams, no one ever told me what the purpose of that photo of the eye was. She explained it to me to where I understood and she explained the photos of my eyes as well (no health concern, yay!) and also gave me recommendations to help with my dry eye and got me into some back-up glasses for work.

My visit with Dr. Barnes at See and Be Seen was fantastic from start to finish. The front desk team was welcoming, and the tech, Mayra, was such a joy; fun, kind, and great at putting me at ease throughout the exam process.
After seeing Dr. Barnes, Austin helped me with frames and lenses, and I was genuinely impressed. I had no idea there were so many styling and lens options to create a custom pair of glasses. Austin explained everything clearly and made the whole experience feel personalized and exciting rather than overwhelming.
I left feeling well cared for, informed, and confident in my choices. Highly recommend this team.

She was nice. But also very short and acted like she was too good for her job. Also came in quick with yellow dye for my eye- without even asking me! Not sure I’m comfortable going back. I also wanted some eye drops and I was told they’re individually packaged but when I got home, it was just one bottle. ?

Honestly, the best eye doctor experience I’ve ever had in my life and I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old. The office was aesthetically pleasing, they offered me snacks and water, and everyone there was so kind. This is a luxury experience and not your local-neighborhood chain! Dr. Madison was very kind and very professional. I came in to her office because I had a swollen under eye and stye in my eye. She did a great job extracting the pus from the inside of my eyelid. She also gave me a heat kit, eye drop, and prescribed me an antibiotic. Also, her team at the front were lovely and friendly as well.

Dr. Barnes was so patient and supportive while teaching me how to use contacts for the first time. She took the time to make sure I felt confident and comfortable getting them in and out on my own. Dr. Barnes and her team at See and Be Seen are phenomenal! From the moment I walked in, Elise at the front desk made me feel completely welcome — she’s warm, professional, and keeps everything running smoothly. Dr. Barnes was incredibly thorough and kind during my exam, explaining everything in a way that made me feel informed and cared for. And Austin, the optician, is a style genius — he helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses that I absolutely love. The office itself is modern and beautiful, and the experience felt more like visiting a boutique than a doctor’s office. Hands down the best eye care experience I’ve ever had!

I shared with the receptionist that I was on able to complete my pre-medical registration. Told her I was coming in for a regular eye exam that my insurance approved.. what I completed the application. She shared all my dental information and said it was approved for service.. I spoke with the dentist. She shared all the exams and I told her I was here just for contacts and I only need them once a week for choir rehearsal she continue examine me and she told me the prices for the glasses and the contact and I told her that I was there just for eye exam and I was interested in contacts. She told me that I need to go see a specialist. I said no I don’t need to see a specialist because I just wear reading glasses. She said well we have to bill them for your exam. I said no I don’t wanna make an appointment but if I ever do, she told me OK when you’re ready. They had me sit with the glasses guy I declined. Checking out they charge me and said I have to pay something to get out. So I did.
