About Dr. Marc Schmitt
Dr. Schmitt began his medical career as a clinical laboratory scientist. This foundation of performing and interpreting complex medical testing helped shape his unique approach to healthcare and made him realize he preferred the company of people over test tubes. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Weber State University and went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University. Since entering the eye care field, Dr. Schmitt has gained experience in a variety of clinical settings, including a corneal transplant and cataract surgical center, a specialty contact lens practice, a pediatric eye care clinic, and multiple Lasik surgery centers.
As a way of giving back to the Portland community, Dr. Schmitt created the SHARE SITE initiative, which improves eyesight for Portlanders in need by providing free exams and glasses. He is also a strong advocate for pediatric vision exams and proactive, natural approaches to eye health. By opting for modern technology in his practice, he offers a more thorough and pain-free exam experience. Above all, Dr. Schmitt's passion lies in helping his patients and the Northwest community maintain healthy, clear vision by actively listening to and carefully educating those under his care. His warmth, friendliness, and genuine concern are evident from the moment he walks through the door.
At home, Dr. Schmitt is a loving husband and father of two who will do whatever it takes to make his kids laugh. He also enjoys snow skiing, amateur movie production, playing with his dogs, and dining at one of Portland's many incredible restaurants with his wife, Brooke.

I have always been less than pleased with my eye doctors - this is the first time that I walked out feeling like I finally found my place. Everyone was beyond friendly, efficient, helpful, and most importantly, honest and understanding about the services I needed / didn't need, where to buy affordable contacts / glasses, etc., and not only trying to push selling internally. I'm so happy not to dread this annual appointment anymore :)

Marc is articulate, pleasant and knowledgeable. I came out of the appointment knowing more than when I came in. I have confidence in his abilities. The equipment was more up to date than many optometrists I've been to. He took my insurance which had recently changed and his office is nearby.
The office seemed a bit hipster for my liking, but they did move from Portland. Everyone was pleasant.

I was really impressed with Dr. Schmitt’s eye examination. He examed areas of my eye that no other eye doctor has ever looked at. He spend a lot of time explaining everything to me and answered all my questions. I didn’t feel rushed. I left feeling like I learned a lot more than I ever had about my eye health. The staff was also very knowledgeable and nice and I also did not feel rushed to pick a frame. Best eye exam ever and I highly recommend him to everyone.

Very cool, chic and clean Portland office with professional and friendly staff. Dr. Ngo gave me the most thorough eye exam I’ve ever had, and she’s super cool and sweet. The optician was awesome in guiding me in the right direction with my frame choice while remaining in my budget, and he did all the backend research on my insurance benefits. I also learned why I have dry eyes and an effective, long term and safe solution to treating the underlying problem and not just the symptom through eye drops. Favorite eye doctor office and visit ever!

Dr. Schmitt is the best eye doctor I have ever been to. The equipment is super modern and he takes the time to walk you through what all your tests mean and shows you the images. He is friendly makes you feel at ease. I have had dry eyes for awhile and was unable to wear my contacts all day. Dr. Schmitt recommended a relatively new procedure which worked wonders! My dry eyes are cured! He is definitely on the cutting edge of technology - ask him about new technology coming out and he will excitedly tell you about the new procedures and equipment he has been investigating. I have already recommended him to all my friends and coworkers. You won't regret going to Dr. Schmitt!

This was probably the most pleasant and efficient eye doctor experience I have ever had and I am looking forward to returning when I need my annual check up. Staff was very friendly and efficient from the start and took me through all the procedures very quickly. When I met Dr. Schmitt he was a friendly goofy guy but you can tell he knows what hes talking about. Did a very thorough examination of my eyesight and was not pushy about getting glasses or contacts with them for this visit. I received my prescription at the end and I'm looking forward to getting new glasses!

Dr Schmitt and his staff were excellent. My appointment went very smoothly, from exam to glasses. Dr Schmitt answered my questions, walked through eye scan images and did a thorough exam to find my new prescription. As a bonus, none of the equipment required eye dilation or air puffs!

Dr. Schmitt was the ideal amounts of professional, thorough, efficient and friendly. He and his staff (Hector and Kristi, sorry not sure on spelling) made this appointment very comfortable, informative and left me feeling like I was properly cared for especially considering the mysterious symptoms I have been experiencing. Dr. Schmitt values patient care above all and it really shows through his manner of assessment and treatment. I live locally now but plan to continue to make the trip to this location/optometrist when I move because I've never received better care!
