About Dr. Margaret Kistner
Dr. Kistner joined Northwestern Women’s Health Associates in August 2022. She is currently affiliated with Northwestern University as a health system clinician and has privileges in general OB/GYN at Northwestern Memorial/Prentice Women’s Hospital. She received her undergraduate degree with honors in Psychology and Biology from University of Virginia. She then completed both her medical degree as well as her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center. During residency, she served as wellness chief within her department, as well as received the Magis Star for outstanding patient care and Excellence in Teaching Award for medical student education as both a junior and senior resident.
As an OB/GYN Generalist, she seeks to provide comprehensive and evidence-based care within a safe and patient-centered environment. She believes in ongoing education, health advocacy and long-lasting doctor-patient relationships as cornerstones of excellent medical care.
She lives in Logan Square with her partner Richard and Sheepadoodle Zippy, with whom she enjoys staying active with runs, bike rides or any outdoors activities.

Everything was great! Going to the gyno can be a bit uncomfortable for me but she was so kind and a great communicator. I was called in for my appointment early, everyone was friendly, nothing felt rushed. All around great experience!

This doctor has terrible bedside manner. Extremely uncomfortable being seen by her. Would never recommend to a friend, maybe an enemy. Left in tears. Felt completely unseen and shamed. She is very condescending and offers opinions without actually listening or asking questions. Has no regard to possible medical traumas people may have faced and acts like you're an idiot for asking questions.

Dr. Kistner was just lovely to meet with. It was my daughter's first appointment with an ObGyn, and the doctor listened to her concerns, asked questions to get better input and really spent some time discussing the potential issues and solutions. She was able to address some concerns immediately, gave my daughter some homework in the meantime and we're returning in a few months. I couldn't feel more comfortable with the introduction and putting my daughter's health in her hands.

Dr. Kistner has been my doctor for several years now. I suffered from heavy bleeding and she was the only doctor who ordered an ultrasound. We didn't just find the cause but she also recommended different types of birth control to reduce/stop bleeding. We found one that works for me, albeit it took time for my body to adjust. No more menorrhagia! Dr. Kistner is not only highly competent and knowledgeable, she has excellent bedside manners too. She listens. If you're looking for a new OB-GYN, I strongly recommend her.

I've seen a few OB-GYNs in my lifetime and Dr. Kistner is one of the best. I came in to discuss a procedure but she recommended another, less invasive procedure that would be better for my long-term health. I learned a lot from our first appointment. Also, their office seems efficient; I was seen within minutes after completing paperwork and didn't have to wait to get blood work. I'm super impressed.

Doc was really nice and professional, but at the end felt a little off and disorienting. She kept mentioning an annual exam but then only did a pap smear and then left so I couldn’t tell if that was the exam she was talking about or if I missed out on a breast exam or something else that was supposed to also happen at the annual. Also got the vibe that she was disappointed I didn’t want to discuss anything and everything was straightforward so that was a little odd.
Overall would recommend and but do ur own research and be prepared.
