About Dr. Marguerite Cohen
Marguerite P. Cohen, MD is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has a broad range of experience. She has worked in a variety of settings in Portland (solo private practice, HMO, hospital employee and member of a large group) and is happy now to settle into a small, independently owned practice, where she can give patients the time and attention she feels they deserve. Dr. Cohen is an in-network provider with most major insurance companies. As always, we highly encourage you to always check with your plan to be sure Dr. Cohen, and the other other providers in our office, are in-network with your specific plan.
Originally from San Francisco, Dr. Cohen completed her undergraduate degree at Reed College and earned her Medical Degree from from University Of Southern California School Of Medicine in 1981. She completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University in 1985.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Cohen is an active advocate for women and women's healthcare within the community. She is an active fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Oregon Medical Association and plans to continue her lobbying work in pursuit of improved health outcomes for women.
Outside of work Dr. Cohen wears many hats - mother, wife, dog mother, cat mother, cook, knitter and avid gardener -- with a special love of roses, having many award winning roses in the past many years. She loves to hike, travel and visit her adult sons in their various life adventures.
Dr. Cohen welcomes new patients and is also happy to re-connect with long-time established patients.

I had the best gynecology experience with Dr. Cohen! I had a traumatic experience during my first gynecology exam a few years ago, and that always makes me anxious before going in for a gynecology visit. Dr. Cohen’s skill and temperament made up for that experience. It was virtually pain free. She is down to earth as well. I highly recommend this provider!

Dr Cohen was warm, friendly, communicative, and professional. I suffer from some white coat anxiety and this was one of the most comfortable doctor’s appointments I’ve ever had, which is saying something since the physical exam is more invasive than a typical physical.

I had a great experience both at Cascade Women's Health and with Dr. Cohen. The staff (receptionist and nurse) were very kind, and I was checked in and seen almost immediately. Dr. Cohen made me feel comfortable to ask any questions I had during the appointment - she was a great listener, took notes during the appointment and followed up with notes in my portal after the appointment (this is SO appreciated), addressed all of my concerns, and was very thorough in her communications. I've recently moved to Portland and finding a good Doctor and medical staff that I trust is a big relief to me.

Dr Cohen spent a good deal of time with me, discussing my concerns and providing education regarding next streps. I love a doctor who doesn’t spend the visit staring at a computer. I felt safe, heard and cared for. I can’t remember the MA’s name, but she was awesome as well. FYI, I should have done a bit more research but this office does not offer obstetric care.

Dr. Cohen was amazing!! I was very nervous since this was my first appointment with the gynecologist and getting a pap smear. But she was super nice and we talked for awhile about everything before the physical examination. I felt like I was actually being listened to about my concerns. She was also very willing to talk about anything. During the physical examination, she talked through me what she was doing and also kept conversation going so it wasn’t awkward for me at all. Super awesome first experience!!!
