About Dr. Maria-alicia Longoria

"Maria Alicia Longoria, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2024, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2018. She furthered her training by completing a residency in Ocular Disease at the Doris Miller VA Medical Center. Dr. Longoria was born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Galveston, Texas. Growing up, she faced ongoing vision challenges, including a latent lazy eye that often turned when she was tired. Despite these struggles, she remained active in both sports and academics, which gave her a deep appreciation for the importance of clear vision in everyday life. Her interest in vision began in high school, where she focused her science projects on topics such as depth perception, color vision, and ocular function. Shadowing her optometrist solidified her decision to pursue a career in optometry. Dr. Longoria specializes in primary eye care, ocular disease management, and dry eye treatment. She enjoys helping patients achieve clear, comfortable vision and maintain the quality of life that comes with healthy eyes. Her treatment philosophy centers on providing personalized, compassionate care and educating patients so they can make informed decisions about their eye health. When Dr. Longoria isn’t caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new destinations, and staying active in her community."
