About Dr. Maria Castillo
Dr. Maria L. Castillo received her M.D. degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She served as the Site Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Berkley, Michigan and was also an active member of the teaching faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.
While at Providence Hospital, Dr. Castillo was appointed to the Executive Council of Employed Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Women’s Health Care Council and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Performance Improvement Committee.
Dr. Castillo is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and provides services at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns, Pomerado Hospital, Scripps Memorial Hospital LA Jolla and Sharp Grossmont Hospital.

I went to this physician expressing my concerns that I felt abnormal down there. I was expressing signs/symptoms of BV or yeast but I did not know exactly what was going on. I went to Dr Castillo for help. She performed a vaginal exam and told me it was just irritation and she did not even swab me for BV/Yeast even though I repeatedly asked her if she was sure That I didn’t have BV or yeast. She told me she would send a cream to the pharmacy for me (never got sent to my CVS). I didn’t feel right still so I took it upon myself to go urgent care. I TESTED POSITIVE FOR BV AT URGENT CARE. it’s disappointing when you go to a OB/GYN for vaginal issues and the proper testing is not done.

Dr. Castillo was kind and knowledgeable. Her staff was also very sweet. I am an attorney with a very busy schedule, and I was in a virtual hearing during my visit. The staff did not have the wifi password, but they stayed extremely quiet while I appeared. Later, when I left the office, my Fiat got stuck in park, and I was unable to leave the parking lot for 2.5 hours. Ms. Cecilia from the front desk and Ms. Nicole (I think that's her name sorry!), the parking lot attendant, stayed with me and tried to fix my car until their shifts ended, and the tow truck arrived. I very much appreciate them for all of their assistance and caring for me, especially since that was my first visit ever! I highly recommend this entire office an the staff - thank you :-)
