About Dr. Maria Cifone
Our goal at Island Foot & Ankle is to provide you with quality, timely, and cost-effective healthcare in a pleasant, professional, and patient-focused environment. Our physicians and my staff work together as a team to bring you the highest quality treatment in a warm and caring setting. At our practice, the patient is our primary concern, and we pride ourselves on providing personal and friendly care. We are dedicated to healing and fully educating you about your foot and ankle health needs.
Dr. Maria Cifone completed her undergraduate studies at Scranton University, graduating with honors. She then earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 2017 from New York College of Podiatric Medicine, New York, NY. Following this, Dr. Cifone completed her residency in podiatric surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, West Islip, NY.
Dr. Cifone is a board-certified member of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
She has a passion for the rehabilitation of sports injuries of the foot and ankle. Dr. Cifone brings a unique blend of biomechanical and surgical knowledge to her patients to recommend treatments that help them return to their busy lives as quickly as possible. She also treats work-related injuries and motor vehicle accidents.
Completely committed to her patients, Dr. Cifone goes above and beyond to provide compassionate care. In addition to sports injury rehabilitation, she has a particular interest in cosmetic surgery for feet.

I booked my appointment on line from the doctors portal page and completed registration on line with an office appointment for 1/24/25 at 9am at the West Islip office. Upon arrival the receptionist said I didn’t have an appointment. I showed the receptionist the reminder on my phone and said I could not be seen and that I had not received a call for registration. I became very upset, spoke with the office manager who was not any help. I left angry not seeing the doctor because she said she was booked the rest of the of the day and did not make any allowances for the error. There seems to be a serious problem with any website registration and communication connection with the office. Dr Cifone was referred to me by another doctor. The attitude of the office staff could not have cared about what had taken place even though they were shown I had a valid appointment and provided all necessary documentation for my visit ahead of time. This STINKS!!

I chose this podiatrist because of her reviews. I can tell you I felt very uncomfortable after my visit to the point I called the receptionist back. A female over 50 and I felt I was treated like a child-as if she wanted to embarrass me (door also left ajar). I have had issues with my feet for some time now. It was assumed that I did not know what a podiatrist was and that I have never consulted with one. It’s been some time now so definitely time to start again. I felt a little rushed. I went to discuss issues that were not noted on my initial request for appointment but during the appointment I could been told to make a follow up appointment to cover. I felt she was very ruff. I asked about a medical pedicure (which is a newer term) but basically asking about clean up/filing dead skin. I was asked if I knew she was a podiatrist and she does not do anything viewed on Tic Toc/paint nails. When I have gone for podiatry issues in the past it clean up/file was done.

When I made the appointment I had sharp intermittent foot pain. By the day I met with the doctor, 10 days later, pain was gone. I kept the appointment hoping for some explanation. With nothing to evaluate or diagnose, there was nothing to be done - somewhat disappointing but understandable.

Dr. Cifone listened to my symptoms regarding my past foot issues. She examined my stance and this insole of the shoes I were wearing to see where I was putting pressure on my feet as I walked by looking at the indents.
She prescribed a cardiologist for further precautionary testing to rule out or pinpoint to why I get random foot swelling and pain.
Dr. Cifone took the time to communicate her diagnostics and follow up very well making the visit a really comfortable.

Dr. Cifone's office is nice, they took Xrays in office, which Dr. Cifone reviewed during my visit. She listened to my concerns and gave me an action plan to follow, printing out suggesting and recommendations. Dr Cifone was very professional, but friendly also.
