Getting to know Dr. Martha Stamper
Dr. Stamper has years of experience working with a variety of clients-individually, as couples, and as families. She addresses client thoughts and behaviors while considering family system influences. She guides clients to explore and articulate their thoughts and feelings within the context of their experiences to uncover the values that motivate them and identify their goals. Clients develop skills to flexibly manage obstacles they encounter when trying to act in service of their values, even when facing difficulties. Ultimately, good results are reflected in behavior changes that work for the client and can be maintained independently. Dr. Stamper does not prescribe medication but will collaborate with the client's prescribing doctor when the client indicates that would be helpful.
Good therapy, Dr. Stamper believes, is never the same for any two people because each individual's particular strengths and weaknesses, as well as their unique circumstances, need to be incorporated into the process.
Dr. Stamper earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University. This APA (American Psychological Association) accredited program provided a well-rounded four-year graduate education covering the psychological, social, and physiological aspects of human behavior.
