About Dr. Matthew Esperon

Matt Esperon, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California San Diego. Dr. Matt Esperon became interested in optometry after experiencing firsthand the importance of eye care as a teenager. After developing multiple corneal ulcers from improperly wearing contact lenses, he spent significant time receiving treatment from his optometrist. This experience sparked his interest in the profession and inspired him to pursue a career dedicated to helping others protect and improve their vision. While attending the University of California San Diego, Dr. Esperon worked in several optometry practices throughout the San Diego area. During this time, he was mentored by Dr. Carl Hillier and Dr. Robert Sanet, whose work in vision therapy and sports vision introduced him to a wide range of patient care and further strengthened his passion for optometry. During his time at the SUNY College of Optometry, Dr. Esperon served as student body president, representing his classmates in student government. He also founded the school's Sports Vision Club, bringing practicing optometrists to campus to educate students about sports vision and vision training for athletes. In addition, he was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship through the U.S. Navy. Dr. Esperon is committed to providing compassionate, patient-focused eye care and enjoys building lasting relationships with his patients while helping them achieve and maintain lifelong visual health.
