Psychologist
1140 Bdwy, Ste 204 DE, New York, NY
I am a psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic stress, relationship challenges, substance use concerns, and major life transitions. My approach is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). I also bring a neuroscience-informed perspective, helping clients better understand the connections between their nervous system, emotions, relationships, and daily experiences. My clinical background spans community mental health, addiction rehabilitation, Veterans Affairs settings, and major academic medical centers including NYU Langone and Stanford Medical School. Prior to joining SelfWorks, I completed clinical psychology training in California, earned a Fulbright fellowship studying Buddhist philosophy in Sri Lanka, and received a master's degree in neurocognitive psychology in Munich, Germany. These experiences continue to shape my curiosity about human growth, resilience, and meaning-making.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I view therapy as a collaborative process where you are the expert on your own life and experiences. My role is to bring clinical knowledge, curiosity, and perspective to help us better understand what is happening and identify pathways toward meaningful change. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor treatment to each person's unique needs, goals, and circumstances. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that is warm, affirming, and genuine. My hope is that clients feel understood, supported, and, when helpful, gently challenged as we work together. You do not need to arrive with complete clarity about what is wrong or what you want to change. We can begin wherever you are and make sense of things together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins by getting to know you—not only the concerns that brought you to therapy, but also your relationships, values, strengths, and the experiences that have shaped you. Together, we explore both present-day challenges and the patterns that may be influencing your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. As therapy progresses, we focus on building greater awareness, flexibility, and self-compassion while developing practical tools for navigating life's challenges. Depending on your goals, our work may include exploring past experiences, strengthening emotional regulation, understanding the role of the nervous system, practicing mindfulness-based skills, or working through difficult emotions in the moment. Throughout the process, we regularly check in about what is most helpful and adjust our approach to support your growth.
