Not sure why others complained about the process. It is pretty clear cut. You get your x ray, you speak with a few of the people on the team, the doctor comes in and explains what's going on and plan of care. I found the process to be pretty streamlined, straightforward and I felt taken care of. ”

About Dr. Melissa Leber

Dr. Melissa Leber is a nationally recognized sports medicine physician and one of the few dual board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine. As Director of Player Medical Services for the US Open, she leads care for the world’s top tennis players. Guided by Billie Jean King’s words, “Pressure is a privilege,” she brings excellence and empathy to every patient interaction, courtside to clinic.
Dr. Leber is an Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, teaching and mentoring future physicians. She lectures locally and nationally, sharing expertise with colleagues and empowering athletes of all levels to stay active safely and confidently.
Though not a surgeon, she works closely with her orthopedic surgical colleagues to help patients navigate when surgery is the right choice, always guided by patient-centered decision-making. She integrates ultrasound-guided diagnostics, concussion management, and regenerative medicine (including PRP and stem cell therapy) to create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
A lifelong athlete, she graduated from the Horace Mann School, where she played varsity tennis, basketball, and softball and has served as Team Physician since 2013. She continued her athletic career at Brandeis University as a collegiate softball catcher, inspiring her path toward sports medicine.
She has worked with the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Pirates, USA Rugby, and at the New York City Marathon and Triathlon. She has been repeatedly named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and Exceptional Woman in Medicine, and has appeared on the news and in national publications for her expertise in concussions and advanced diagnostics.

Dr. Leber and all the other staff were courteous and professional as you'd expect from a big office, however the appointment was extremely rushed and Dr. Leber said she didn't have time to address all of my concerns because they're limited to 10 minutes per patient. Additionally, when I arrived I was immediately ushered back for x-rays without even being able to talk to someone about the reason for my visit, and I had to take it upon myself to ask questions about what was going on. Dr. Leber was very good about explaining my diagnosis and treatment options, but if you have a complex issue or questions that you want to discuss, I would strongly recommend you look for another clinic where patients are treated as people and not as cattle.
