About Dr. Michael Hwang
Michael Hwang, M.D., is a caring and diligent orthopedic surgeon serving the Portland metro area. Dr. Hwang attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree, and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington. Dr. Hwang completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Taos Orthopaedic Institute and Research Foundation. He continued his training by completing a second fellowship in hand surgery at Ohio State University Hospital.
Dr. Hwang practices at The Portland Clinic, and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He primarily treats conditions of the upper extremity but also does some general orthopedic surgery, such as fracture care. His core philosophy is shared decision-making. He enjoys taking his time with patients to educate them about their condition, explaining the treatment options, and helping them choose which course of action will best fit their personality and lifestyle.

Dr. Hwang is always very thorough, patient and takes the time to answer all of my questions. He allows the patient to be very active in their treatment options & care. Dr. Hwang is the best.

Dr. Hwang was extremely thorough on answering my pre op visit questions. He was our 3rd opinion and he made me feel at ease. If you follow his advice you will recover in a shorter amount of time. The follow up and P.T. was xlnt.
