About Dr. Michael Plakogiannis
Dr. Plakogiannis began his medical career by enrolling in a seven-year dual degree program for his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education through the City University of New York. After completing his bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences in 1995, Dr. Plakogiannis obtained his medical degree in 1997 at the New York University School of Medicine.
Michael Plakogiannis, MD, is an obstetrician and gynecologist with over 20 years of experience. He currently serves patients at Lenox OBGYN located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York.
He finished training with an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, New York City. After completing his training, he served as an attending obstetrician and gynecologist at multiple facilities throughout New York City.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Plakogiannis has been teaching and supervising residents and medical and PA students at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York since 2001. He is a clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He was recognized for his teaching with the 2008 Teacher of the Year award at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Plakogiannis is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Hellenic Medical Society.

Dr. Plakogiannis has an exceptional bedside manner—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. Dr. Plakogiannis(wish I asked him how to pronounce his name) was so lovely & extremely professional. I tend to get nervous at the doctor and he put me at ease with his bedside manner. He listened to my concerns and brought up me possibly moving my frozen eggs from California to his New York office. Logical idea but I hadn't thought about it until he mentioned it. The appointment from beginning to end was seamless and staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Plakogiannis is an amazing provider. What I like the most about him, he’s very informative and explain . I’ve been seeing him for several years and I’m honored to have him as my OB/GYN.
