About Dr. Michelle Blas
Dr. Blas earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1993 from the State University of New York College of Optometry located in Manhattan. Her most recent position was with Peninsula Ophthalmology Group in Daly City and Burlingame, California, after moving back to the San Francisco Bay Area in the summer of 2016. Previously, she practiced at McDougal Eye Center in Mesa, Arizona, and Optical Expressions in Scottsdale. Both are private practices focusing on primary care optometry, which includes contact lenses, emergency care, glaucoma management, and post-op care in collaboration with regional ophthalmologists. Additionally, she served as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Midwestern University Eye Institute in Glendale, Arizona, where she was an attending optometrist for third-year optometry students.
Before her time in Arizona, she was senior staff optometrist at Peninsula Ophthalmology Group in Burlingame for several years. She also practiced at the San Mateo Medical Center's eye clinic in San Mateo, California, where emergency care, glaucoma co-management, and post-op care were emphasized.
Dr. Blas is experienced in treating macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. She looks forward to serving you, along with all of our friendly, welcoming staff members.
In her free time, Dr. Blas enjoys traveling, golfing, baking, gourmet cooking, and spending time with family.

Maybe it's me getting used to the west coast way of doing things but almost shockingly cold. Dr.Blas took no interest in me what so ever which made me uncomfortable as she messed around with my eyes. Questions I asked her about her practice, what she was doing, or just her as a person we're brushed off if answered and the only questions I had asked of me were which image was clearer. I have no complaints about the eye exam that I had and I'm sure she is a wonderful doctor but I don't recommend her if you're looking build a trusting doctor patient relationship. I need to go back to an optometrist for another appointment and I've scheduled with another doctor. Bummed since her office was so easy to get to.

Lovely, pristine office with great doctors and an amazing selection of designer frames. The office does an awesome job working with you and your insurance to ensure that you’re getting the maximum discount and highest quality lenses and contacts. Hugely grateful that they were so helpful, efficient, and kind. Would recommend for both eye exams, and even just for the retail experience if you need new glasses or sunglasses!

The office was great/clean/front desk staff was friendly, and overall my experience was fine, but I found the doctor to be unfriendly. She did not introduce herself or explain my prescription changes at the end of the visit or explain the purpose or results of the tests as she did them, and as soon as she was done, she just pointed me to the counter. I got handed an envelope with my prescription papers without an explanation of how my astigmatism changed, what that means, etc. I missed a form before my appointment (honest mistake), and she seemed outwardly annoyed about that, which made me feel anxious because doctors' offices scare me as it is! Maybe she was just having a bad morning, but I felt a little unwelcome.

Dr. Blas and office staff were very friendly. It was a very thorough eye exam and Dr. Blas explained in detail what was occurring with my eyes. The selection of glasses and sunglasses was excellent. Highly recommend scheduling an appointment with Dr. Blas.
