Dr. McDonald obtained a Specialist degree in school psychology from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. She then received her PhD from the University of Florida. Over the course of higher education Dr. McDonald completed two internships and a post-doctoral residency in clinical psychology, which honed her skills in development and pathology across the lifespan, neuropsychology, neurodiversity, and gender/sexuality exploration. She specialized in Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Non-Suicidal Self Harm and Suicidal Ideation. Dr. McDonald’s work experience includes clinical work in a day treatment program, a children’s hospital and private practice. Currently she balances private therapy with part-time work in a hospital setting providing psychological consultation and assessment for pediatric trauma, eating disorders, substance abuse, maternal mental health and stroke. In addition to clinical work, Dr. McDonald has been an expert contributor for numerous articles and a television spot regarding children’s mental health. Dr. McDonald is a proud Navy wife and a mother to three children. In her spare time, she likes to read, exercise, travel, and bake with her kids.
