“Mike is the best psychologist I have ever worked with. I got connected with him through my physical therapy program in California — and he really really helped me through that. He saw me for me and made me feel comfortable and safe to open up in our work together. He is very knowledgeable about chronic pain and that was very beneficial in our work together. Hands down, I would give Mike 5 stars. I 100% would have continued working with him if I was still in California. ”

Getting to know Dr. Mickeal Pugh

If you have noticed a change in your quality of life and are looking for ways to improve your overall wellbeing, you are in the right place. I am a psychologist specializing in a therapy approach tailored for individuals with chronic illness or disability, chronic pain, physical injury, or other physical health issues that have negatively impacted your wellbeing and sense of wholeness. Coping with these physical conditions can be challenging, and my goal is to work with you to restore balance and promote healing. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed my residency at the University of Washington School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. Additionally, I am passionate about the future of mental healthcare and provide supervision and consultation to pre-licensed clinicians.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a person-first and holistic approach to your health and wellness. I will navigate this journey with you. In therapy, we will develop strengths and skills to enhance your quality of life and overall well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Research shows the therapeutic relationship is the biggest predictor of change for clients. Thus, I believe fully in working collaboratively to develop a strong relationship as a foundation for our work together. Prioritizing empathy and encouraging exploration of your personal identity into therapy sessions, I take an integrated approach to therapy. I use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IT).
