Dr. Mitchell Cooper, MD

Dr. Mitchell Cooper, MD

Orthopedic Surgeon
2775 Schoenersville Rd, Bethlehem, PA
I prefer to keep things simple and easy, treating patients as I would like to be treated. I listen carefully to what my patients are telling me and strive to explain diagnoses and treatment options as clearly and succinctly as possible, so they can make informed decisions about their care. I rely on approaches that have proven effective for both me and my patients, whether in the office or in surgery, always aiming for the best possible outcome. Following my father, a well-respected obstetrician/gynecologist, into a medical career felt natural. I wanted to combine my love of sports with my interest in how athletes recover and return to play after devastating injuries by becoming a sports medicine doctor. I often envisioned myself as the team doctor running onto the field to tend to an injured athlete-now, that vision is a reality. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Tulane University and my Doctor of Medicine from Temple University. I completed my internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Illinois, The University of Chicago Medical Center. I am actively involved with the Maimonides Society of JFLV, the Lehigh Valley Dawgs (minor league basketball), and various charitable endeavors. I serve as a radio talk show sports injury consultant, assistant team physician at Central Catholic High School, team orthopedic surgeon for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (Philadelphia Flyers AHL affiliate), and was previously the team physician for the Allentown Ambassadors (minor league baseball). In my free time, I enjoy golf, bicycling, ice hockey, collecting sports memorabilia, learning Italian, and spending time with my family.
