About Dr. Natalie Velazquez
Dr. Natalie Velazquez has been practicing optometry for 24 years. Born and raised in New York, she has always dreamed of helping others. While obtaining her Bachelors in Biology at Hunter College of NY, she became a volunteer research assistant at Mount Sinai Hospital in the Ophthalmology Department. Under the guidance of Penny Asbell MD and Seth Epstein MD, she was involved in publishing a paper, UV Effects of Herpes Simplex Type 1 Inactivation with PABA Protection. Natalie’s passion and curiosity for the eye and ocular disease led her to pursuing her Doctorate in Optometry from InterAmerican University School of Optometry where she graduated in 2001. While studying for her Optometric Degree, Natalie joined VOSH, a worldwide humanitarian organization that provides primary eyecare and glasses to those in need. As a member of VOSH, she travelled numerous times to the Dominican Republic and Haiti, where she was able to help influence the lives of hundreds. These experiences, along with many others, contribute to the deeply rooted devotion Dr. Velazquez provides each day to every patient she examines.
Dr. Velazquez provides primary eyecare, treatment and management of ocular disease, Lasik evaluation and comanagement, cataract comanagement, contact lens (including toric, monovision, multifocals, as well as RGP’s and specialty fits for keratoconus), and vision therapy. Natalie has been in her own private practice from 2008-2023. She found she really wanted to join a practice that had her same ideals and just care for patients. She is a active member of the American Optometric Association and New Jersey Society of Optometrists, Hudson County for the past 24 yrs. On her time off Dr. Velazquez loves to spend time with her family, friends and her 5 cockatiels. Natalie’s interests include sketching landscapes and people, singing and is a animal lover.
