During his time as a medical student, he led initiatives to create a community Blood Bank and a Renal Dialysis Center to assist uninsured patients. He has also spent the past 14 years volunteering as a mentor for medical students around the world. Dr. Nizar's research interests include the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and advancements in ocular imaging. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in esteemed journals such as Ophthalmology, RETINA, and JAMA. He has also presented his research at international conferences including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
