“Dr. Cates-Smith is a joy to be around! Even though she have on a mask you can hear the smile in her voice and when I interrupt her while she is doing my exam, she pauses to make sure she hears the question and/or concern to she could respond effectively! She's always present and I hope to have her as my doctor until she retires!”

About Dr. Pamela C Cates Smith
Pamela Cates-Smith, MD, FACOG, joined Orlando Health Physician Associates in 2009. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Cates-Smith provides comprehensive healthcare for women throughout all stages of life.
Dr. Cates-Smith earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and completed her residency at Orlando Health.
Dr. Cates-Smith has a special interest in adolescent obstetrics and specializes in minimally invasive surgery. In addition to her work with Orlando Health Physician Associates, Dr. Cates-Smith also teaches in the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies residency program.
Dr. Cates-Smith was awarded the Patient’s Choice Award from 2010 to 2013. She was voted “Most Compassionate Doctor” in 2012. Dr. Cates-Smith was also named “Woman of Year” in 2013 by the National Association of Professional Women. She is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Florida Medical Association, and American Medical Association. Dr. Cates-Smith also serves on the True Life Choice (TLC) Women’s Center Advisory Board.

As soon as I come in it's just a warm welcoming environment I love and trust my provider and staff so much I recommended my aunt to go there when she was pregnant which she did and she loves the office as much as I do and also my sister recently registered as a new patient

Dr. Cates-Smith is amazing, she was thorough, genuine, and kind. I find it extremely important to be treated by doctors who look like me. I strongly believe that diversity is a key factor for ultimate health care. Please keep this in mind when expanding your workforce, patients should always be made to feel understood. Dr. Cates-Smith and her staff did this for me. I wish her endless success.

The entire staff and experience was phenomenal! I was contacted to be rescheduled however, l missed the phone call, neglected to check my messages and I still arrived at the appointment. The front desk clerk informed me of my mistake however, she was very accommodating, assuring me that she would place me on the schedule to be seen anyway. She was very friendly and patient with me as she provided instructions on how to enroll in My Chart. Dr. Smith was very personable and kind. I passed her in the hallway before the exam and she greeted me. Upon entering the exam room, she greeted me very warmly again. She went over the list of vitamins I took and made suggestions about which medications I could omit from my regimen. She also explained how each vitamin benefited my body. I voiced my health and reproductive questions and concerns to her. She listened and offered very sound advice. She made me feel as though I had every right to make my own decisions yet she offered her opinion as a medical expert in a very non judgmental way - as if she were a family member or a good friend. The exam itself was very quick and she explained what she was doing every step of the way. She was efficient yet I didn't feel rushed. I felt as though she was genuine and she provided me with exceptional care and customer service. She even gave me a hug before her departure. Given the disparities in health care amongst African American women, it was extremely important that I received care from an African American doctor. I feel very fortunate to have found such a friendly and knowledgeable provider and ally. I would highly suggest Dr. Smith to any women seeking warm and friendly expert care.
