About Dr. Paul Yamauchi
Dr. Paul Yamauchi is a dermatologist in private practice at the Dermatology Institute and Skin Care Center in Santa Monica, California. He is on staff at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, and UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. Dr. Yamauchi is a clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica. He specializes in general dermatology, dermatologic surgery, aesthetic dermatology, and clinical research.
He earned his B.S. in biochemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles, his Ph.D. in biologic chemistry at the University of California at Santa Barbara, and his M.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. He completed his residency in dermatology at UCLA School of Medicine and a cosmetic surgery fellowship affiliated with UCLA School of Medicine.
He is a fellow with the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Dermatology Surgery, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Pacific Dermatology Association. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Dermatologic Society. He currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery and The Scientific World Journal. He is the author and co-author of more than 50 publications, including several books.
Dr. Yamauchi conducts numerous clinical research trials at the Clinical Science Institute in Santa Monica. He serves as a principle investigator in several studies including new therapies for psoriasis, skin cancer, eczema and acne. Dr Yamauchi has been a consultant for the development of new innovative therapies in dermatology.
He is recognized as a key expert leader on psoriasis and is on the Medical Board for the National Psoriasis Foundation. He has extensive experience using the new biologics, oral drugs, and topical medications in the treatment of psoriasis, and has been invited as a speaker at international, national, regional, and local venues to talk about new advances in the treatment of psoriasis. In addition, he is a strong advocate in establishing patient support groups for psoriasis, and has published extensively in new advances in the treatment of psoriasis.
Dr. Yamauchi has also spoken on other dermatologic conditions at national and local meetings and has published many peer-reviewed articles including acne, eczema, skin manifestations associated with rheumotologic conditions, and hyperhidrosis.
He has given several television media interviews locally in Los Angeles as well as nationally on ESPN, national news, Inside Edition, and internet webcasts. In addition, he has been quoted several times in the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Daily News, Dermatology Times, Skin and Allergy News, and several magazines. He has been the recipient of many awards including the Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Super Doctors in Southern California, and America’s Top Physicians List among others.
Dr. Yamauchi has written several articles on the use of Botox and various fillers for rejuvenation and other indications as well as advances in laser treatment. He has conducted several clinical trials on Botox, new advancements in filler agents, and innovative lasers for rejuvenation and skin tightening.

They sent a blank lab form for my blood test (ie, no specified test was listed), with a Dr. that’s not on staff listed as the ordering physician. I wasted time at the lab while they called your office to clarify all this missing/confusing info.
Also: No one was available after my appointment to clarify a
question about my prescriptions.

I was expecting the Dr to be a little more thorough during my visit. He didn’t take the time to go over all of my concerns and I felt he was rushing through the appointment. I had to wait about two months for this appointment and I’m totally disappointed. I need to look for another cosmetology Doctor. He might be good for you if you have a skin desease.

No feeling of connection or thorough analysis around my symptoms. Just felt like he was robotically checking boxes. Prescribed me a medication for toe nail issues that cost hundreds of dollars and their suggested pharmacy said insurance companies literally never cover that medication... I have been waiting several days to hear back from the office about alternative medications but no word.

I have been a patient of Dr. Yamauchi for approximately 10 months. My purpose for seeing him was I have a severe psoriasis condition. He explained to me that my condition is not curable, but could be managed through a drug therapy program. As a result of his recommendation my psoriasis condition has improved dramatically. I am grateful for his assistance and have no hesitation in recommending him. Additionally, I have found his support staff to be courteous and helpful.
