What should a new client know about working with you?

Whatever feelings and experiences you are having, they are real and valid. You are not alone, and I hope to walk alongside you. As your psychologist, I hope to support you with tools and resources by utilizing evidence-based interventions (e.g, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Gottman, & IPT) and approaches (e.g., HAES & Intuitive Eating) while listening to your needs and concerns. My approach is empathic, compassionate, non-judgmental, collaborative, and empowering. Together, we will break intergenerational patterns and help you heal, grow, and be well.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically conduct a one-hour intake evaluation at the onset of our treatment. During this time, we can both decide if I am the best person to provide the services you need in order to meet your treatment goals. Different kinds of problems may require different lengths of therapy. After the initial session, we will talk about what seems appropriate for working on the kinds of issues that you want to address. However, it may still take several more sessions to complete a thorough assessment, which will allow me to develop a treatment plan for us to follow. If we agree to begin psychotherapy, I will usually schedule one 45-minute (talk therapy) or 55-minute (EMDR therapy) session per week, at a mutually agreed-upon time, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent. A typical session may involve processing your emotions and experiences, introducing tools and resources including experiential exercises, and jointly setting treatment goals and weekly agendas.
