811 NW 19th Ave, Ste 203, Portland, OR
Dr. Rachel Marsh is a licensed psychologist based in Portland, OR. She passionately believes that what makes us most vulnerable – our hopes, dreams, and fears – are also our greatest sources of strength. Driven by this belief, she seeks to guide individuals on a transformative journey toward authenticity and self-discovery. In her practice, Dr. Marsh is dedicated to fostering self-acceptance and compassion, recognizing that these qualities are the keys to unlocking a richer and more meaningful life. She believes that when we look inward with curiosity, find courage in vulnerability, and embrace our true selves with authenticity, we open to new possibilities, and our world undergoes a profound transformation. Our humanity is complex, and it is essential to acknowledge how our diverse identities shape who we are and how we move through the world. Dr. Marsh believes that recognizing the intersectionality of our identities is a vital step toward creating a more inclusive and empathetic world. Informed by her own intersecting identities as a neurodivergent, queer, white, cis-woman, Dr. Marsh approaches issues of culture and identity with sensitivity and insight. She recognizes that issues of diversity are not always apparent, even to ourselves, and strives to understand people from a holistic perspective, carefully considering how issues of diversity can affect our health, mental health, and overall well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

A new client should know that working with me means being met with curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for your full humanity. I believe that the parts of you that feel most vulnerable: your hopes, fears, dreams, and longings are also profound sources of strength. Therapy with me is an invitation to explore those parts with courage and self-acceptance, at a pace that feels safe and supportive. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is affirming, inclusive, and grounded in understanding how our identities and lived experiences shape the way we move through the world. I approach issues of culture, identity, and intersectionality with care and humility, recognizing that these influences are not always immediately visible. Clients can expect a nonjudgmental environment where authenticity is welcomed and where vulnerability is honored as a powerful step toward growth and healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative, reflective, and guided by mindfulness, self-compassion, and trauma-informed practices. We begin by exploring what brings you to therapy, along with the values, experiences, and identities that have shaped your story. Together, we cultivate curiosity about your inner world—your thoughts, emotions, patterns, and relationships—while building a foundation of safety and trust. As therapy unfolds, I support clients in developing greater self-awareness and compassion, helping them gently examine beliefs or experiences that may be limiting their sense of authenticity or connection. We work to integrate insight with lived experience, allowing new perspectives and possibilities to emerge. The goal is not to “fix” who you are, but to help you more fully inhabit your true self, so you can move through the world with greater clarity, resilience, and a deeper sense of meaning.
