Getting to know Dr. Rafael Lopez Sanchez
As a professional, my goal is to understand and treat my patients as whole individuals, considering their unique minds, their current and past circumstances, as well as their medical needs. I am a board-certified psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Since my graduation, I have worked in community health psychiatry in the Bronx, NY, and in the last few years on the Southwest side of Chicago.
Throughout my career, I have developed a passion and expertise in working with adults suffering from a broad range of mental health disorders. During my formative years, I participated closely in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. After graduation, I worked in the community and specialized more in the treatment of major depression, anxiety disorders like panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and adult ADHD.
I'm originally from Mexico City, where I attended medical school at Universidad Nacional Aut?noma de M?xico Facultad de Medicina. I've spent a good amount of time training as a psychiatrist?first in my native country, where I completed a four-year training program, and then again here at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Lopez Sanchez was very friendly and cared. The appointment was online, so I did not meet physically. However, there were no connection issues. The office called ahead of time to let me know of the paperwork I had to fill out, and they followed up to tell me they received it. It was all very professional and a great experience.
