About Dr. Randal Troop

Dr. Randal Troop is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and sports medicine specialist. He is fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Randal Troop graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University and received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine where he was elected into the AOA Honor Society. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of New Mexico where he was named outstanding teaching resident. He completed his sports medicine fellowship in San Diego, CA, with the San Diego Chargers and worked with several other professional teams including the San Diego Sockers, San Diego Gulls, and the America 3 yacht team for the America’s Cup.
Dr. Troop is currently the head team physician for the Frisco RoughRiders, the AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers, and is an orthopedic consultant with the Rangers during Spring training and throughout the season. He has worked as the team physician for multiple local high schools and colleges He has a special interest in the treatment of sports related injuries and enjoys taking care of the entire range of athletes from professional to recreational sports.
Dr. Troop has authored several publications, has worked as an instructor at the Arthroscopy Learning Center and the Arthroscopy Association of North America and he has served as the Chief and Vice Chief of the Department of Orthopedics at the Medical Center of Plano. Dr. Troop is currently serving on the Board of Directors at Baylor Medical Center at Frisco. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Texas Sports Medicine Society, and the Texas Medical Association.
