She is an exceptional provider—kind, patient, and an incredibly attentive listener. During such important and sometimes stressful moments, she always made me feel heard, supported, and at ease. Her calm and reassuring presence helped ease my anxiety in a way that meant so much to me.

About Dr. Raynelda Hidalgo
Dr. Raynelda Hidalgo is a graduate of Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, where she received her medical degree in 1991. Then, she embarked on her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago and subsequently completed her training in 1995. She is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Hidalgo has been in private practice since 1995 and served as president of the medical staff at St. Joseph Hospital in 2012 and 2013. Prior to that, she served as vice president and treasurer. She currently holds the position of Vice-Chairwoman of the Department of OB/Gyn at St. Joseph Hospital, which has given her the opportunity to work closely with residents. She enjoys participating in resident training since she understands the importance of imparting her clinic knowledge on young physicians, just as those before her did when she was in training.
Dr. Hidalgo is best known for taking a collaborative approach with her patients when it comes to decision making. “Ultimately”, she says, “her patients are the captains, and I am simply the navigator.”

First time at the gyno so I didn't quite know what to expect, but the doctor is very friendly and personable. She doesn't dawdle and she prioritizes your comfort. She made sure there would be no surprises and she let you know what was going on as she did the exam. I was quite relaxed with the appointment, and furthermore I would like to add that the speculum part was no more painful than removing a menstrual cup so if that's something you're concerned with then I'm hoping that getting a framework of the pain level from the perspective of a virgin should put your mind at ease, lol. I've had significantly worse pain just getting my x-rays done at the dentist; this was less painful than a needle stick, and I'm not even someone who dreads those (I donate blood).
Anyway tl;dr friendly doctor, miniscule amount of pain.
