Dr. Raza Syed, MD

Sports Medicine Specialist
8645 Rachel Freeman Way, Charlotte, NC
My patients range from newborns to seniors, and I love that variety. Some of my passions within family medicine are ultrasound-guided interventions, including orthobiologics (also called regenerative medicine) and viscosupplementation. Both involve injections for pain relief. I have a subspecialty in sports medicine. Within that realm, I've built an interest in sports-related concussions, nonsurgical musculoskeletal medicine, chronic tendon injuries and the management of fractures, sprains and strains. After my sports medicine fellowship in Spokane, Washington, I served as a team physician for Gonzaga University, Whitworth University, North Central Spokane High School, Spokane Indians (High-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies), as well as for the USA Wrestling U23 national championship and Hoopfest, the world's largest three-on-three basketball tournament. I love sharing my medical knowledge with patients as well as on medical outreach missions to underserved areas. I've been part of two missions to the Dominican Republic and Haiti and one to Zambia. I love staying active and playing and watching sports are my biggest hobbies. I'm a big fan of both the Hornets and the Panthers. I have studied Urdu, Pakistan's national language, and now have a basic knowledge it. I also love travel, cooking, trying new restaurants, stand-up comedy, collecting sneakers and colognes, self-improvement and playing with my German Shepherd, Lilo.
