About Dr. Rima Macwan
Dr. Rima Macwan, owner and founder of Macwan Eye Group, earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from New York University before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry at SUNY College of Optometry.
During her time at SUNY College of Optometry, she trained under top ocular disease and pediatric specialty trained optometrists and surgeons. She also completed rigorous training at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lyons, NJ, Pediatric and Vision Therapy Clinic at SUNY College of Optometry, and Pediatric Ocular Disease at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
After graduating, Dr. Macwan spent time working at various private practices and luxury boutiques in New York City and Phoenix, before opening up her own clinic in New Jersey. Ultimately, her and her husband’s search for warmer weather and perfect place to raise a family brought her to Georgia in 2021!
When Dr. Macwan is not seeing patients, she is spending time with her husband and three children, planning the next getaway, or figuring out which farmers market or festival to attend in the area.

Quick check-in, and Dr. Thakker was friendly, thorough and professional. She took my preferences into account in recommending contacts (brands, daily versus longer wear) and was clear about changes in my eyes (including an astigmatism) since the last exam.

Rima was very friendly and professional. I had so many questions and she was able to answer all of them with confidence. She was very thorough and made sure to explain all the procedures she would be doing. It was great knowing what to expect. This was probably the best eye doctor visit I ever attended.

She is AMAZING! Really kind and knows her stuff, what more can you ask for. Answers all your questions and makes sure you got all the info you need before you walk out that door. Does not rush you! I really liked Rima! She gave her professional advice but also asked me about my behaviors and preference (e.g. did I want 1 month contact disposables versus dailies?). She also seems very caring and took the time to explain everything to me thoroughly.

Dr. Thakkar is by the most professional and competent doctor I have seen.
She was effective, efficient and offered advice on my dry eye condition that no other doctor had--which already has helped me.
I would highly recommend her --and to add to all this she was a compassionate and kind person---wow have never experienced that.
If you need eye consultation do not think of anyone else.

Until I met Dr. Thakker, my opinion of every optometrist is they were eye glass sales people with a degree.
Not so with Dr. Thakker - She is personable, takes the time to answer questions, explains what and why she is doing a specific exam, and takes time to listen

First visit was honestly one of the best optometrist appointments I've had. Short wait, doctor and assistants had great manner - pleasant and professional. The doctor gave background on all the procedures she performed and about my performance. Best of all, they did not give me a hard time about giving me a copy of my eyeglasses prescription or hassle me to buy frames in-house - an experience I've had with other doctors in the area. Highly recommend!
