About Dr. Robert Lin

Dr. Robert Y. Lin completed his bachelor’s degree at University of California, Berkeley and received his medical degree from SUNY-Downstate, where he also completed clinical training in internal medicine and allergy/immunology. He has been professor of medicine at New York Medical College since 1995 and was appointed professor of clinical medicine at Weill-Cornell Medical College in 2012. He was president of the New York Asthma and Allergy Society in 2012- 2013. He has a master’s degree in biostatistics and is involved with medical care utilization. For 20 years he headed allergy and immunology at St Vincents Hospital, where he researched and published in many areas including sepsis, asthma, allergic rhinitis, AIDS, food allergy and anaphylaxis. He is editor-in-chief of The Internet Journal of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology and has lectured extensively. Now at New York Presbyterian - Lower Manhattan Hospital, he treats both adults and children in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Dr. Lin is also a consultant and speaker.

Overall, he was great. I was skeptical reading some reviews, but honestly my experience was pretty straightforward and that’s all I really need in a doctor. Everyone in the office was very nice and polite. I was new, so it was a pleasant experience. It was also my first time going to an allergist so I didn’t know what to expect. All in all, would recommend

Dr. Lin is very straight to the point and that's fair and fine but I'd like to express that after prefacing to him that this was my first time being tested for allergies, I wasn't even prompted as to what he was about to do. From pricking me with needles, to jolting a a microscope up my nose, my visit felt very rushed and I simply wish there was a bit more care involved when being treated. At the very least, offer a moist towel to clean off the allergies that I was tested for on my arm. They were itching even after I left. :/

Dr. Lin was very straightforward and to the point. The staff here is very friendly and the wait time is very minimal which I find is hard to come by in the city. I got there right on time and waited about 10 minutes after check-in to be called in by the MA and then another 5 to be called in by Dr. Lin. I just needed a regular allergy test and had a couple of questions about my specific allergy I thought I had. Though we couldn't really test for it, Dr. Lin offered to do a specific check for it at our next appt if it really was bothersome.

I was there for a consultation and discovered my Dermatologist was mistaken don’t have allergies but its fungus and that’s why the creams were not working we were very surprised and happy to find this out he is a very bright Doctor

Really impressed that I was seen by the actual doctor - a lot of offices use the doctor's name on ZocDoc but swap for a physician's assistant in office. Also, in a rare first, the office staff kindly filled in my insurance information for me from my ZocDoc profile instead of making me handwrite it all from scratch, like many offices do. This location gets it right! Thank you.

I'm extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Dr. Lin's office. I came in for an allergy test as I was (and still am) experiencing itchy bumps all over my body. I was sent for a blood test, without much luck. I was then told I needed a biopsy to figure out what the issue was. I reluctantly agreed, and the biopsy still did not uncover my issue. Instead, I am now left with an ugly scar on my hip, and still have itchy hives all over. A P.A. who did not know the results of my biopsy called me, then said they'd have to call me back to relay my results. When they called me back, they said I'd have to have another blood test. This was burdensome for me to have to keep driving to Quest and keep subjecting myself to painful procedures that did not solve anything. I will be going back until Dr. Lin solves my issue, if only to make this scar worth it.

5 minutes consultation cost a huge amount of money deductible in my insurance. I have never experienced a situation like this before. Dr Robert don’t dedicate time towards the patient’s consultation to get the real issue the patient is suffering. Prescribed some medication that I didn’t feel comfortable to take much less to pickup from the pharmacy. I would never go back to his office again, additionally don’t recommend.

Saw him, spoke about my specific concerns and was just given a standard allergy spiel and asked to come back in next month. Sure, it was the end of the day, but he certainly wasn't listening and either ignored or didn't ask the nurse, who I explained the whole issue to. Office was fine, just would definitely see a different allergist.

I enjoyed my visit with Dr. Lin. He asked a lot of necessary questions and basically helped me realize what I need to do deal with my allergy situations. I need to follow up with him as he recommended and follow his instructions. I would recommend him to others.
