About Dr. Robert Matlock
Board-certified, Dr. Matlock specializes in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He treats a wide range of orthopedic conditions in adolescents and adults, giving patients both surgical and non-surgical options.
Dr. Matlock enjoys working with athletes and helping them overcome an injury or condition quickly, and safely. He also has extensive experience in treating injured workers and helping them return to their prior level of function.
Dr. Matlock works closely with patients to help them understand their condition and treatment options. For better outcomes, he encourages patients to contribute to their care and share in the decision-making process.
When possible, Dr. Matlock uses non-invasive treatments, such as physical therapy, injections, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections before considering surgery. When conservative care is unsuccessful and surgery becomes necessary, Dr. Matlock specializes in such minimally invasive procedures as:
Shoulder and knee arthroscopy
Meniscus repair and partial meniscectomy
ACL repairs and reconstruction
MCL repair and reconstruction
Rotator cuff repair
Biceps tenodesis
Shoulder labrum repair and stabilization for shoulder dislocation and instability
Tendon repair and reconstruction

Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for patella dislocation
Dr. Matlock and his team work closely with physical and occupational therapists to help patients regain pain-free range of motion, strength, and function after an injury or surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Matlock enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. They love to travel and enjoy nature by biking, hiking, and rafting, as well as annual snow skiing trips with friends. He is an avid college football fan, and relishes listening to music with his daughters.
