I g et overwhelmed with choices, so this helped me. However, glasses are very expensive here, so be willing to put out the cash (even though I do have insurance), or request to see the less expensive brands.”

About Dr. Rochelle Slamovich
Dr. Slamovich was born in Stockton and moved to San Francisco when she was four years old. Raised in the Sunset District (under the impression that the whole world existed in alphabetical and numerical order), she graduated from Lowell High School and earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. After working in several research labs at Cal, she realized she was personally more suited to the world of clinical work and attended the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry, graduating with honors in 1980. Her volunteer work has included Children's Vision First (providing free eye exams for San Francisco school children not covered by insurance), the Delancey Street Foundation (offering free eye exams and glasses for recovering addicts), and serving on the San Francisco Optometry Board.

My visit today to see Dr. Slamovich exceeded my expectations. The doctor was extremely thorough and explained every step of the exam. I am really happy that I went to this office on Polk Street. The office staff was extremely courteous.

Very helpful, respectful and friendly service. I needed to update my contact lens prescription and I was given spare contacts. I just moved to SF from abroad and wanted to go to the highest rated optometrist and Rochelle had great reviews, even though the optometry isn't the most convenient for me distance wise it was worth the longer commute as I was saved with so much hassle and felt at ease right away.

I have been going to this optometrist for about 30 years and she’s the best. I actually had fun at the appointment because she and her staff were so friendly and they had a great sense of humor. They were great at explaining the options and any additional costs so that there were no surprises. The eye exam was very thorough and Dr Slamovich showed me the results on the computer and explained what I was looking at. I was able to ask questions and get clear answers to all of my questions. I saw them treat other clients with the same excellence.
