“Dr. Homburger truly changed my life. I was going through some major life changes (e.g., quit a toxic job, planning my wedding during COVID, deciding whether to have kids), and was struggling with some past family trauma. I was hesitant to seek help because of my prior experiences with other psychologists. Dr. Homburger's approach of giving space to process one's feelings while also gently challenging and suggesting changes enabled me to overcome past trauma. More than that, she helped me develop boundaries and adjust my behavior in a way that has drastically improved my relationships. Dr. Homburger has continued to be there to help me through several other life transitions and to grow as a person. Thank you, Dr. Homburger! ”

Getting to know Dr. Sally Homburger

My approach to therapy is relational psychodynamic, which means that I believe our relationship templates are shaped both by our upbringing and by the relationships we have formed throughout life. I emphasize “your whole story” – who and what brought you here, and how you have developed to this point in our work together. The foundation of any therapeutic success is a strong relationship built on trust between therapist and client. I see you as an equal human being in this partnership and pay close attention to our dynamic to help bring you insight. I also integrate other techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive processing therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I believe you will find my approach warm, welcoming, curious, kind, and professional. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology and my Master's in Psychology from Widener University, and my Bachelor's degree from Boston University.

I have been seeing Dr. Homburger for over a year now and have referred her to many of my friends who are seeking therapists in New York. Highly positive experience and appreciate her approach to therapy.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Homburger for almost two years, and in that time, our weekly sessions continue to be something I look forward to. She lends a compassionate ear and is a very thoughtful listener. She will often press pause or circle back to previous topics we’ve discussed as she identifies patterns or trends that we should work through. Finding the right therapist is a gift, as it allows for building a safe space and rapport. My sessions with Dr. H continue to serve as a lens through which to measure personal growth and to continue to strive toward becoming the best and happiest version of myself.
Dr. Homburger has been my therapist for at least two years and I have a deep appreciation for the support and guidance she's given me. My sessions with her are whatever I need them to be and she makes me her main priority. She also gently challenges the way I think and feel to get me to dig deep. Honestly, since I've been seeing her I noticed that I've grown, become more self assured and resilient. And I think it's because of the work we've done together.
Finding a good therapist can be really challenging, but working with Dr. H has been a great experience. From the initial consultation, she made me feel at ease and reassured me that therapy is a personal process—no pressure to commit right away. She’s very understanding, professional, and personable, which has made it easier to open up. She’s also consistently insightful and asks thoughtful questions that really help me reflect. I’ve found our sessions genuinely helpful.

Dr. Homburger is an empathetic and compassionate individual who creates a comfortable space for me to put my thoughts into words. I started therapy during a time of great transition in my life, but through our time together, I have been able to develop the skills I need to cope with what life throws my way!
Sally has been a truly transformative presence in my life, offering insight, compassion, and unwavering support while always actively listening and providing gentle guidance. Her guidance has helped me grow, heal, and navigate challenges with newfound clarity and understanding.
Dr. Homburger is a great therapist that treats you with kindness, empathy, and understanding. She provides a true judgement-free environment that makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. Her questions are curious and thought provoking, but don't feel too invasive and she's able to push you just the right amount. She is also incredibly flexible and was willing to work with my very unpredictable schedule, whether we were meeting weekly, biweekly, or different days and times every week.
Dr. Homburger is truly wonderful. She listens closely to her clients and their concerns, is clear about expectations, but also is empathetic in care. She is very responsive and super flexible, even with the most chaotic schedules. I feel I have made true progress while under her care
I've really enjoyed working with Dr. H. She is understanding, kind, and nonjudgmental. She knows when to support me and when to push me further into unexplored territory, always trying to examine the why. She's been extremely accommodating throughout big changes in my life, and I've appreciated that she's wanted to be a steady presence.
Dr. H is really great! I always feel comfortable sharing difficult things and never feel any judgement, which isn’t the case for a lot of other therapists I’ve seen. She’s been really helpful for my anxiety.
I've worked with several therapists over the years, but my time with Dr. H has been the most impactful and meaningful. She’s a fantastic listener who knows how to challenge me in ways that are both nonjudgmental and encouraging. I often find myself reflecting on our conversations long after our session ends. She creates a space that feels safe, supportive, and constructive, and I genuinely look forward to meeting with her each week. Her empathy and insight are profound, and I can’t recommend her enough!
I have been working with Dr. Homburger for just over two years now and it has been an extremely positive experience. I originally reached out to Dr. Homburger when I was going through a really bad stretch of anxiety. Her compassion and ability to listen without judgement made an immediately positive impact on my mental health. As we continued to work together, her approach of exploring my past has led to a greater sense of self-understanding and equipped me with the tools needed to effectively manage my anxiety day to day. I feel extremely grateful for Dr. Homburger's support and guidance these past two years and have no doubt that anyone who has the opportunity to work with her will similarly benefit from her thoughtful approach towards therapy.
Dr. Homburger is an excellent therapist! I have been seeing her for over a year now and she has helped me navigate several challenges - from leaving a long term toxic relationship, to addressing core identity questions and feelings about my sexuality, to work burn out. She brings a thoughtful approach that balances empathy with practical problem solving to promote healthy behavior and accountability. Highly recommend!
Dr. Homburger is an excellent, empathetic therapist. She is thoughtful, listens well and provides great insights. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking support.
Dr. H has a remarkable ability to remember details from our past sessions and connect them to deeper patterns and insights. In the past, I often felt disheartened when other therapists seemed to forget what I had shared, so her attentiveness has been especially meaningful. Her thoughtful guidance has helped me navigate - and catalyze - some truly significant life changes. I’d recommend her without hesitation to any friend seeking meaningful, supportive therapy.
Dr.H is one of the best therapists I've ever had! I leave every session feeling a bit better. She is incredibly kind and an attentive listener. I can't recommend enough!
I've been seeing Dr. K for a year now, and her support has been invaluable in managing my burnout as a software developer. She reassures me that it's okay to take breaks, step away from constant studying, and focus on self-care rather than always pushing myself. Her insights on navigating career changes and reminding me that it’s okay to not have everything figured out have been incredibly comforting. She helps me feel less alone in my struggles and encourages me to prioritize my well-being, even if that means stepping away from the tech grind. I highly recommend her to anyone dealing with stress or career uncertainty!
Dr. Homburger is great to work with! She has consistently helped me work through all my issues - both big and small. She is very patient and understanding. Very easy to schedule appointments that work with my schedule. I don’t know where I’d be without her and am so grateful for all the help she has given me!
Dr. Homburger has treated me with kindness and respect. She cultivates a comfortable environment while also pushing me to access my deeper feelings to understand and adjust my behaviors. She has been especially caring during transitional periods of my life as I navigated moving cities, sharing an apartment with my significant other, changing jobs, etc. I would recommend Dr. Homburger to anyone looking to grow with the support of a compassionate and gently challenging Psychologist.
