What should a new client know about working with you?

Each prospective client has an initial "chat" session for approximately 30 minutes for us to get to know each other before making a decision about moving forward with services. If the decision is to move forward, I ask new clients to provide their current and historical life situations that have led them to seek assistance. I will meet with them to review their responses and comments via my assessment forms (not formal tests). Each client has 90 minutes during each session. All sessions are provided via Zoom (HIPAA-compliant edition) Clients get to self-determine what amount they can pay after each session. There is no minimum (nor maximum) fee. Any amount is acceptable. If my services are wanted, I will provide them without demanding a specific amount because the ability to pay should not prohibit acquiring services. There is no making payments over time. Simply a one-and-done payment via credit card.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session begins with a "check-in" of life's current situations, followed by a discussion of client-generated treatment issues and goals. Homework is frequently offered/requested. Diagnosis is not a primary focus, as I believe people have issues/problems adjusting, not diagnoses. People are humans, not a diagnosis. I encourage clients to allow me to consult with their primary medical care provider and a trusted family member of friend/significant other/spouse to assist me in understanding the client more thoroughly, but this is not mandatory.
