About Dr. Samuel Gerber

Samuel Gerber, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Surgical Associates. Dr. Gerber specializes in a range of orthopedic areas, including sports medicine, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstructions, and total knee replacement. Dr. Gerber published a technique manual on double-row rotator cuff repair and has a special interest in minimally invasive knee and shoulder surgery. Dr. Gerber works with his patients to achieve the best possible outcomes. He tailors the treatment plans of his patients to their individual needs and treats them with respect and compassion. Dr. Gerber is hopeful about the future of orthopedics as knee surgery and shoulder surgery continue to improve with ongoing advancements in instrumentation and new techniques, which help patients return to a normal and productive life. Dr. Samuel D. Gerber is among the first Orthopaedic surgeons in the nation to be awarded subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Gerber is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Medical School. He completed his postgraduate training at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program. Dr. Gerber completed a fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in microsurgery at the Medical Research Council in Great Britain. He founded Orthopaedic Surgical Associates of Lowell, P.C. and is a past president of the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association and prior Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Lowell General Hospital. He is currently an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a preceptor for Tufts University School of Medicine, an adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and serves on the Board of Councilors for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
