Getting to know Dr. Sarah Barwick

My mission is to combine compassionate clinical care with thoughtful psychological assessment to help individuals better understand themselves and navigate life's challenges. I believe people are more than diagnoses, test scores, or difficult chapters in their lives—they are unique individuals with stories, strengths, and untapped potential. Through evidence-based therapy, comprehensive psychological evaluation, and authentic human connection, I strive to provide clarity, promote resilience, and support meaningful growth. Whether I am conducting an assessment, offering treatment, or providing consultation, my goal is to honor each person's dignity, seek understanding before judgment, and help others move forward with greater insight, confidence, and hope.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe people are not problems to be solved, but stories to be understood. My mission is to meet others with curiosity, honesty, and humanity, helping them navigate life's challenges through authentic connection, evidence-based care, and unwavering respect for their dignity. I strive to help every person recognize that they are more than their diagnosis, more than their mistakes, and capable of growth, healing, and meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is grounded in the belief that understanding must come before intervention. Whether conducting a psychological evaluation or providing therapy, I begin by taking the time to understand the individual's history, strengths, challenges, and unique circumstances. In assessment, I utilize clinical interviews, psychological testing, record review, and behavioral observations to develop a comprehensive understanding of the person rather than relying on a single score or diagnosis. My evaluations are designed to provide meaningful, practical information that can guide treatment, educational planning, disability determination, workplace accommodations, or diagnostic clarification. In therapy, I integrate evidence-based practices with a collaborative and authentic style. While scientific research and clinical expertise are essential, I believe that meaningful change occurs within the context of a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create an environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered to explore challenges, build resilience, and move toward their goals. Above all, I strive to balance clinical objectivity with compassion, recognizing that every person is more than a diagnosis and every evaluation represents a unique human story.
