Getting to know Dr. Sarah Church

As a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in treating substance use disorders, I have developed a positive, innovative approach to treatment that uses respectful and flexible techniques proven effective in helping patients move forward in their lives. I typically work collaboratively with patients to increase their internal motivation to make positive changes that result in more fulfilling relationships and lives. I approach treatment with a simple goal: to help my patients create and live healthy and happy lives. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University and completed a pre-doctoral fellowship in addiction at Yale University School of Medicine. I also earned my bachelor's degree from Columbia University. With over 20 years of experience in the addiction treatment field, I previously served as the Executive Director of the Division of Substance Abuse at Montefiore Medical Center and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine for 16 years. Internationally, I have provided consultation to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for both Vietnam and Afghanistan as they developed medication-assisted treatment centers in their countries.
